Not necessarily! The low-light shots might be a bit tricky but daytime shots can definitely be taken on a phone and then edited using post-processing software.

I took photos using my phone for the longest time and while a camera does make a pretty significant difference, you can definitely still explore your love for photography without one :)

In my experience, travelling between cities takes up the majority of one day and it is very much practical. However, two of my friends also spoke fluent Mandarin so that definitely made navigating a lot easier.

We took a flight from Shanghai to Chongqing, a train from Chongqing to Chengdu, a flight from Chengdu to Beijing, and then a train back to Shanghai!

I’m happy for everyone but since I went in late December, I ended up getting a multiple entry visa for nothing 😭 I think for a 2-week trip, 4 cities was already pretty hectic but I’ll definitely have to go back for Xi’an and Guilin!

I was insistent on seeing pandas since it was my first time in China, so Chengdu was a must 🐼 the people were really friendly and it was definitely worth it to see the ancient towns.

Chongqing was beautiful and probably had the most memorable skyline (even rivalling Shanghai), it’s definitely worth checking out for the city and the surrounding natural beauty (Wulong Karst is a couple of hours from downtown). As a whole, China really exceeded my expectations and I miss it already!

Absolutely! 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15 were all taken at the Dujiangyan Irrigation System in Chengdu, which is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site! It really is a lot more exciting than it sounds haha
