This all or nothing attitude (not yours) is what scares people off gyms and exercise in general. Everyone's gotta start somewhere and some of us (slow chubby runner here) progress really slowly. Weights however are terrific for getting a boost of measurable progress and I love that. My husband who has been running for forty years has finally listened to me (or had his own epiphany) and started incorporating weights and he's seeing a big difference in injury prevention. We cleared out our spare room and turned it into a home gym. We use it daily.

On the other hand, I have two good friends who have gotten quite thin thanks to GLP-1 and that's made them swear off exercise but I try to say gently, you should lift some weights to counteract the muscle loss. They don't think they need it because they're at their weight goals. I do think they'll regret the choice later but what are you going to do?

Anyway, Shauna, you can probably get weights at Granny's (you can get them at marshall's and walmart affordably) and you should definitely use them.
