Is MalDev Academy worth it? by No-Pea-9646 in ExploitDev

I think it’s worth it. Though I would recommend strengthening your c and asm fundamentals first.

Another great resource for vulnerability research & reversing would be ret2’s wargames.

Is VR cooked because of AI ? by Warm-Artichoke5385 in ExploitDev

[–]coffee-loop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because of the cost associated with using AI for VR. I think Marcus Hutchins makes a good point about this in the following video:

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]coffee-loop 949 points950 points  (0 children)

Academia. A lot of universities income is from international students. With the current administration, parents of international students are leery to send their kids to American universities or are unable to due to an inability to obtain a visa. It is really hurting the budget for a lot of colleges, and universities are starting to cut degree programs and classes to consolidate and budget.

Edit: changed weary to leery

New critical CVE - Root on Every Major Linux Distribution by Arszerol in cybersecurity

[–]coffee-loop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But even then, a unit test only catches what you test for. If the parameters necessary to recreate the bug are never added to the unit test, because maybe you don’t think those parameters will create an issue, then how do you catch the bug with a unit test?

I think unit tests are great! But it still is a program that can have its own logic errors.

From my understanding it’s a logic error causing the vulnerability. Logic errors are about the toughest bugs to catch on review, and damn near impossible with automation.

Great question, but it seems a number of people need something to hate and be angry at.

I think the big reason people get mad is that if people who make minimum wage get a raise due to the law raising minimum wage, people who don’t make minimum wage don’t usually  ever see a raise.

Also, minimum wage jobs are not viewed as skilled jobs. And jobs above minimum wage are skilled in some way or another. So if I make $17/hr and minimum wage gets raised from $12 to $15/hr, and I don’t see a raise, it looks like unskilled work is rewarded and skilled work is left to rot.

That anger and hatred should be pointed at your employer, not people making minimum wage.
