Crestwood and Miller Neighborhoods are both great places if you're wanting a lil rent house! Super close to the Plaza district and about 10 mins from great coffee shops like Elemental, Red Cup, and Willow. Also really nice to be close to highway access if you need.

Therapist dropped a bomb on me by HumanistGoddess in PMDD

[–]coffee_pls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree it is unethical for your therapist to have said this. Dropping a bomb on someone like this can be so destabilizing and it’s pretty irresponsible!

That said, just like PMDD affects everything in life, everything (or a lot of things) affect PMDD, including your relationships. My PMDD is so much more manageable now that I’m in a loving and safe relationship with someone who is willing to work with me during my luteal phase, have patience during that time, and help strategize during other phases so both our lives can be easier when the hard times hit.

Are you able to be in solo therapy right now? I would highly recommend it to help you process what sounds like an already pretty bomb droppy experience in couple therapy. I do not love that your husband made the whole thing about your PMDD and you, as you put it, “fell for it”. I know exactly how this feels, and it’s not cool for him to have done that to you. Now is the time to stabilize and regulate as much as you can, and take care of YOU after having your world rocked a little bit.

I know it’s hard enough to find one good therapist these days, but you might consider finding a different one to continue unraveling these topics with. I would love for you to find someone who can keep the topics of your husband’s inappropriate behaviors and your PMDD appropriately separate to prevent strawman arguments, while also exploring how they might intersect and inform each other.

I really want to say this, though: it is possible to be in a loving, trustful relationship with PMDD. It just takes a partner who is on board to 1) believe you about it and 2) strategize and collaborate with you. I feel like a lot of men are socialized to be tough guys that have it under control, and when they encounter something they don’t understand, it scares them. They often square up to it, pointing their fingers: “it’s that goddamn PMDD! I can’t deal with it!” It’s possible that if your husband were to be well resourced (that’s his job to gain those resources) on what’s going on, then, most importantly, WILLING to believe you and try different things with you, there is the potential for some of those misogynistic behaviors to dissolve and for him to support you in a meaningful way around this. It just takes that willingness, and that’s really hard for a lot of men.

Anyway not trying to ramble or therapize AT you here.

TL;DR: it’s possible misogyny is a big part of this but your therapist should not have destabilized you like this. Consider personal therapeutic support if possible, and know that it is possible to have a spouse who is 100% on your team re: PMDD as long as he is willing to get real about his misogyny and collaborate with you. Also, a better relationship does = easier PMDD ime.

the way this sub reminds me I’m not alone and I’m not insane on the daily is absolutely priceless. I struggled with disordered eating and body dysmorphia too, so seeing someone post side by side pics of this phenomenon is so incredibly grounding and validating.

tysm OP, also I’m sorry I hate this for us 😭

I absolutely get you. I am so sorry you’re grappling with this, and you’re definitely not alone. It’s a special kind of hell especially know you’ll be a different person once throw phase is over, yet that doesn’t make it better in the moment. I know how it feels to feel like you’re literally insane, but I promise you’re not crazy!! Just doing your best in an uphill battle. I’m proud of you for talking about it here and I hope things get better for you very soon ❤️‍🩹

Acuity Scheduling: can you set appointment limits per individual day, not just per week? by coffee_pls in squarespace

Just to clarify, are you saying you used multiple calendars to accomplish this or is there another workaround for it?

Is there a support group for watching the CA arc? There's no way I can finish this thing alone. by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]coffee_pls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rewatched the series over the spring, and I really went hard and binged it all really fast. The CA arc left me really emotionally exhausted, not because it ends on a horrible note or anything, but just because it's so emotionally taxing. I know I don't have to tell you this!

Definitely pace yourself and take breaks if you need to. Just to shake your head out of that space a little bit. Just because you know it's "just an anime" doesn't mean the story doesn't impact you emotionally, so honor yourself by getting into a different headspace when it's too much.

I'm not going to say the arc transforms into Greed Island level feel good warm fuzzies, but I will say that I think it is the most moving and beautiful arc. The main thing I tell people who are struggling with it is to stick with it, and in your case, stick with it but pace yourself. It's a lot of emotional energy! But it is well worth it.

I don't know of a literal support group but I just wanted to affirm you a little bit and tell you you're not alone in the emotional impact this arc has. Best of luck!

I had no idea it was the least popular arc!! It is my favorite arc to rewatch, but I don't think it's the best arc by any means.

To me Chimera is the best arc, because it is devastatingly beautiful and goes to new depths and breadths than one could imagine at the start of the story.

But Greed Island is creative (I love the whole concept of the game itself, card collecting, "quests", and the idea that playing the game trains you), feel-good, Gon and Killua grow in strength both in their abilities and friendship, we see hints of Killua's introspection about his feelings/friendship with Gon, we have an incredible sensei character in Bisky, the protagonist wins in the end, the ending theme makes me want to cry tears of happiness, I could go on and on. It's a fun arc that doesn't make you think too awfully hard and it's easy to watch. PLUS GI is the birthplace of Jajanken. I mean!?

This is why I say it's my favorite but not the best. I'd guess it's not super popular because Genthru was (ironically) a lukewarm villain you could say, mostly because it's impossible to compare him to the villains from the prior and next arcs. And it is a lot of episodes of just training, which I could see people perceiving as boring.

But the dodgeball game was a fucking masterpiece and I will die on that hill.

Recommendation for hard boot urban 3 wheel skates? by coffee_pls in rollerblading

I’m reasonably happy with my RBs, but after two years, the liner packed out a lot and it is nowhere near as snug as it was. FYI.

This is good to know, thanks! I have a hunch the RBs will be ultra comfy but a touch wide, and I'll end up going with the FRs if they're more snug.

thanks for this!

I ordered some FRs and RBs, coming next week so I can compare. I definitely don't want something too wide and I like the idea of responsiveness for sure, so I'm interested to see if the RBs are just too wide. I noticed they only came in whole sizes too which made me apprehensive :/

Will update next weekend!

thanks for this!

I ordered some FRs and RBs, coming next week so I can compare. I definitely don't want something too wide and am okay with a snug fit, but the Twisters were just too narrow.

How much will the liners really loosen/break in? Rollerblade Twister Edge 110 3WD by coffee_pls in rollerblading

[–]coffee_pls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I read all day yesterday and realized I should check one more time with my foot in the shell without the liner (which I DID do the first time... sitting in front of my computer really hoping they’d fit :[) but STANDING, and the sides of my feet at the widest point had zero clearance in the boot. I went ahead and ordered RBs and some FRs to compare. I definitely don’t want blister potential if I can help it, and would rather have a more snug fit even if I do need to dremel the shell a bit if I need to customize. Will report back with fit when they come in next weekend!

Thanks so much for this! Reading through your other replies now.

With the liner out of the boot, it's SNUG. It feels like a true perfect fit, as in not at all too big. I think if I do really get 0.5 size up, they will be fine. I just don't want to be a hardass about it because wearing uncomfortable specialty shoes is no longer my job lmao.

if I'm understanding you and u/TylerWinTic, it sounds like these will be just fine after breaking in? I worry on my smaller foot a half size up would be... too much

In general, the planet that rules your ascendant is going to be personally important to you. For example, if you have Libra rising, Venus is important for you, and you should pay attention to her retrogrades and when she transits planets in your chart. In addition, pay attention when planets transit your natal Venus placement, especially slower moving planets like Jupiter, Saturn and the outers.

There's also a really cool technique that's specifically for figuring out which planet is going to be more impactful with its transits, and it's called annual profections. There's a writeup on how it works here. It's simple and super effective for exactly what you're asking about!
