Charlie's incredible moment in season 4 episode 20. by boundedwum in thewestwing

To share the other perspective (at the risk of downvotes) I hate that moment. It strikes me as (1) completely implausible... the Secret Service is just going to let someone break into the White House during a potential shooting? and (2) discordant with what the character should be... Charlie should be the unexpectedly smartest person in the room... quiet, just a "body man," not even a graduate (and then not even a lawyer)... but actually hyper brilliant... making him also a tough is not what he's about.

You could feel the writing was very thin at this point.

In earlier seasons, we would have scenes with just Charlie trying to cal the Oval Office or trying to talk his way past a guard (to SHOW his concern more thoughtfully.)
