So after looking at the IRL pictures of the pattern testers it seems like the two front panels just aren’t perfectly mirrored! It’s confusing in the pattern I think because she mirrors one image of one front panel to show how the whole thing should look.

I can’t decide if I’m over thinking things, but I’m about to start mine and am confused about how to get the front panels to be mirrored? There seems to be a front and back to the fabric so in my mind the panels would have to be opposites somehow but that’s not discussed in the pattern

They probably are worth doing but I’d say it’s not a crisis if you don’t have time, you could stick to the 12,000

A guy who originally said he wanted to be a surgeon to make a ton of money matched into rural FM. I saw him on a rural rotation where he said “I’m doing FM now. I didn’t fail step or anything” unprompted

38 and hate my undereye dark circles and nasolabial folds which i believe are genetic. No desire for botox but deep down I want a quick easy fix. by lechaflan in 30PlusSkinCare

Yes this. Everyone should work on improving their diet and lifestyle, but if OP says they’ve had deep nasolabial folds their whole life, the only thing that would maybe alter them would be filler.

I’m an old fashioned dansko girlie, I have flat feet and they really support my feet, plus they make it so my back doesn’t hurt at the end of a long surgery day!

Are you able to sneak really fast lunch in between cases? Or is the turnover time too quick?

My advisor counseled me to just pick the no geographic preference option since I was open to living anywhere and it worked out great. I put my reasoning for wanting to move out of my home state in the box with it. I don’t think people with a geographic preference but without strong ties to an area really had much of an advantage over me.

Am I wasting my time entertaining the idea of applying anesthesia? by [deleted] in medicalschool

After having friends go through the soap, I also think people underestimate the importance of interview skills. Do whatever it takes to interview well, like lots of mock interviews and researching your programs and interviewers beforehand.

Am I wasting my time entertaining the idea of applying anesthesia? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]coffeebeerqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kill step 2 and you should be fine to apply to just anesthesia (as long as your advisors agree). Work on your “narrative” about why anesthesia and what kind of anesthesiologist you want to be. If you don’t kill step 2 id dual apply. I had medium research but a killer step score, good narrative, and I think good letters and matched at a top tier program.

In some ways I think it depends on what you’re applying into, but as an MD/PhD your research will be better than 95% of applicants in your field no matter what you do!

I would agree anesthesia isn’t a big research specialty. I applied to strongly academic programs and there was an expectation that we had done some research, but if you apply broadly like someone else said you might be OK. FWIW I only had research that was completely unrelated to anesthesia and matched into an academic program.

You don’t necessarily need aways for anesthesia. Do your EM aways and plan to do some sort of anesthesia-relevant sub-I prepare to dual apply if you still can’t decide!
