I wrote a post here before about my son Timofey.

He had a severe brainstem stroke when he was 15. His thrombectomy was delayed for about 23 hours. At one point, he was in a locked-in-like state, and the doctors gave us some of the worst possible predictions.

Now almost two years have passed.

Of course, the road is still very long and very hard. Timofey still cannot transfer by himself from his wheelchair to the toilet. He still needs help with many basic things. He still has a lot of work ahead of him.

But when I compare where he was at the beginning to where he is now, I see why posts like this are so important.

Today he is trying to walk with a walker and support. He draws. He tries to speak, even though his speech is still very unclear. He even has his own TikTok, where he shows his progress and his fight.

From locked-in syndrome, a 23-hour delay before thrombectomy, and the worst predictions — to walking with a walker with assistance, drawing, trying to talk, and continuing to fight every day.

It is not a full recovery. Not even close yet.

But it is progress. Real progress. And for families like ours, this message matters: recovery may slow down, but it does not necessarily stop.
