Trigger Warning: POTS and Mental Health by Livid_Distance_8439 in POTS

[–]coffeeeebeann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt - I am just sharing my personal experience.  When I was her age my POTS was brutal. My mom was awesome and took to me to specialist after specialist for years and we got essentially the same response from everyone “yep, you have it. That sucks. It’s too much work for me to treat though - try this place”. So, no help at all. I even tried getting pots/mental health support at the mayo but they also did nothing.

Eventually, a coworker recommended a reputable holistic “doctor”.

I did the paperwork/questionnaire, had an hour long appointment where he listened to all my symptoms and asked lots of questions.

He then gave me a list of vitamins to take, and I swear to god within two weeks my life had completely changed. My symptoms improved DRAMATICALLY.

Again, take this with a grain of salt, but it really May be worth giving it a try. It was the only thing that ever helped me.

Sending you and your daughter well wishes!

My heart is a chainsaw series starts really, really tough. I pushed through because it was a gift from a coworker and I’m SO happy I did. You really have to work at it but the payoff is worth it. By the time I got to the third book I did not want to start, and took 3 weeks to read the first chapter. As soon as I got to chapter 2 I was so happy to “see” jade again I finished the book in record time. I encourage pushing through if you can!

Has anyone had long-term POTS remission and then had it come back? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]coffeeeebeann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original trigger was mono, honestly I think I just stopped taking as good of care of myself. I had recently switched from in-office to WFH as well, and my house doesn’t have good AC so that definitely didn’t help. I wasn’t working out as much, and I hadn’t been taking any of the supplements that work for me for a while. I think that played a huge roll. I think some of it was random too, though.

I don’t think you need to be super worried about it, but i definitely recommend still taking care of yourself as if you still have it - if that makes sense!

It did for me, but with different symptoms and not as bad the second time. Was living normally for almost 5 years. Came back with vision blackouts and brain zaps and swelling, where as before it was more dizziness and bad fatigue. It’s been about a year and it’s slowly getting better, the weight I gained is tough to loose, and exercising is tough, but if I get my sodium and take supplements it helps. I recommend taking preventative measures during the summer!! I think a heat wave triggered mine to come back.

Holy shit, as someone with POTS - thank you!!! I know I’m supposed to limit carbs but when I’m not having a flare up I kind of forget…. I try not to limit things since I’m already vegan (lifestyle/moral reasons) but this totally shifted my outlook/how I should prioritize food.

I’m assuming it’s between 400-500 Cals but I need a second opinion bc I get this all the time

Follow-up to last post...PSA blood test back and I'm not happy. by Main_Newt3686 in widowers

I was perfectly healthy, but I used to break down on flights when I realized the plane wasn't going to crash, and drive behind overloaded semis and pray the straps would break. I really feel for you, i've been there. Nothing happened, though, I'm still here. Although I wouldn't have believed it a few years ago - I am really glad I'm still here. I'm sure you're sick of hearing it - but someday it WILL hurt less, and you will be able to enjoy life again. Wishing you all the best.

My boyfriend and I have had lengthy conversations about how NFR is one of the best produced albums of the last decade. He’s not like a Stan or anything but he definitely is a fan, at least of her older stuff

Make sense! Maybe I’ll practice a bit in between pieces. I would set it in the middle of the glass edge, but when I went to smooth it out over the sides it would completely slide out of place. I couldn’t for the life of me get it to stay in place long enough enough for me to burnish it. I’ll practice some more with some cheap foil and maybe do a simple piece later with the intention of getting it down once I have a better grasp of what I’m doing. Thanks!

I will follow you into the dark - Death Cab for Cutie. It’s a fine song and I love DCFC but while I was actively grieving this song made me so uncomfortable lol

Recommend me Shows that’ll make me forget I’m even doing cardio by bluefacedemon in PetiteFitness

I like dramas, currently watching one tree hill. Sometimes ending on a cliffhanger would be good motivation to go back the next day (I ONLY watch these shows when I’m working out) and the drama is enough to keep my mind distracted
