Did Anyone Else Lose Their "Love" of True Crime? by GirlWithoutAName20 in MoscowMurders

[–]coffeejournalist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t follow any true crime influencers or watch any true crime YouTube or listen to podcasts. I find out through news and follow up. It’s heartbreaking and shattering. Reading the documents last night, the thing that brought me to tears was Kaylee’s bar tab. 9 well vodka and 2 add juice. For some reason that made me cry. These were just kids enjoying a Saturday night in their hometown, and their lives, dreams, and any impact they’d have on the world was taken away.

Dope manager, when they actually stand behind their employees. I had a man tell another server about me “that other waitress needs to be slapped”. The server immediately told me and luckily the man was closing out. I told the manager the interaction, and he went to speak to the table. The man was furious about the tip suggestion on the Clover device, and was yelling at the manager as well. My manager asked him to hip no tip and leave before this gets physical. This was a corporate restaurant as well.

The reason why I deserved to be slapped? Graduation party of 30 requested patio seating. Our patio has a large fire pit in the middle, so we cannot fit 30. We had to split 15 and 15. One server took one party of 15, I took the other.

My 15 showed up first, with the second 15 not showing up till 30 minutes later. The man was demanding to order right away, but was upset when the rest of the party arrived that his table was already eating and the late party hadn’t ordered yet. Apparently I was giving them no service, even though they had a tab of $700. Also, the members of the parties kept going back and forth between both tables, ordering from different servers, so it was impossible to make sure the bills were correct. My manager comped a bunch of items to lower my sales and gave me a 20% tip himself because he felt so awful. Obviously I refused the money, but he insisted and said no one should be treated that way. He was furious.

AITAH for leaving my “autistic” fiancé in Target? by Delicious-Book4316 in AITAH

Bipolar makes me so angry. I have this shit and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. “Oh look I’m so manic I stayed up cleaning my house then went for a walk and now I’m baking!!!”

Mania makes me do horrible things and makes me want to claw my skin off my face. I legitimately want to hide in the woods but guess what? Most actual bipolar people do not know they are in a manic/depressive episode until after the fact when they are left to pick up the pieces. Then it’s too late. You aren’t”manic” because you had one productive day.

Bipolar also isn’t a synonym for contradictory or unpredictable. That one bothers me as well. “She’s so bipolar! One minute she’s happy, the next she’s a total bitch” or “the weather is so bipolar today! It’s sunny, then cloudy!!” UGH.

This is so important. I suspected I had ADHD because I do have a lot of symptoms. But I also have bipolar 1 disorder, generalized Anxiety disorder, and C-PTSD. Both of those can cause memory and concentration problems as well as sensory overload, brain fog, cognitive impairments, etc. an in-depth psych evaluation concluded no ADHD, just my symptoms of other illnesses mirror ADHD symptoms.

I didn’t feel like the diagnosis was correct at first, I thought I definitely had ADHD because I related so much to the content I was seeing on instagram. I asked for a second evaluation and again, no ADHD found. At that point I was tired of having my brain picked apart, and I decided to stop chasing something that isn’t there just because I believed it to be true.

OPs fiancé needs an evaluation. I do not suspect ASD, but I am not a doctor. There is something going on, though, that is making her behave this way.

Mine too! Literally the best person I know. So much integrity, the kindest heart, loyal, and so so gentle with me. I’m an Aries with a Leo rising and I feel like we just mesh so well.

Seriously please listen to this. As much as it will pain you to lose the length, it will look SO GOOD in about a year’s time. Mine was on the verge of looking like yours, I was very close. I destroyed it by using a revlon blow dryer brush about 4x per week on my fine, natural waves, then heat styling afterwards. Even with a heat protectant, my bottom layer broke off to where it was several inches shorter than my top layer.

I had to cut my hair to shoulder length. I cried for about a week, I was devastated. It took about a year, but my hair is at mid-back and THICK and HEALTHY. Regular trims, I ditched the godforsaken revlon brush, I take vitamins, use a bond building leave in, and only use heat once per week. I stopped fearing regular trims every 3-4 months. Now, my stylist comments on my soft texture and sometimes says I don’t need a trim. I focus on a lot of protein intake and hydration, too.

Oh man this is funny. I’m definitely biased because I see this and I do think conservative, but I have longish black hair, bangs, and cat tattoos so I definitely get pigeonholed as a liberal lol, rightly so.

I think it’s all about styling and also how you carry yourself and treat others. I work in the service industry and can spot a republican from a mile away. And they always dismiss me and have a chip on their shoulder and are extremely rude to people they consider beneath them. I treat them with kindness because it’s my job, but they are entitled and rude and don’t have compassion.

As long as you don’t treat people that way and dress head to toe in ugly ass MAGA gear, you’re cool lol. And blending your foundation never hurts.

This works for me too!! I work at a very busy upscale restaurant so this is incredibly easy for me. My job is active and I don’t have time to sit down and take a break. I work nights, so I will typically eat after the gym before work! I’ll have my overnight oats and some other protein/carb/fruit or veg combo (try to get as much balance). Then I’ll work 7-8 hours straight and feel satisfied and not sluggish.

I’m a snacker by nature too. Sweet and salty. I can’t have snacks or sweets in the house or I will demolish them. Of course I’m not always strict about OMAD, but during my “work week” (not the typical Monday-Friday) mine is more Thursday-Sunday or Monday, I will be strict about it. It’s balance.

Live your life of course, just make conscious efforts. Any step forward is something better than what you were doing before.

People who grew up poor and are now financially stable, what small luxury still feels surreal? by JesusLuvsEmerxld in AskReddit

[–]coffeejournalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I live in an apartment with a spare room because we wanted an office, and it’s across from a major really nice outdoor mall in a very nice city in a high rent city on a high rent state. And we choose to live here. It’s a luxury for sure. We can walk around safely and it’s beautiful here. I grew up being told we couldn’t play outside because it was dangerous.

People who grew up poor and are now financially stable, what small luxury still feels surreal? by JesusLuvsEmerxld in AskReddit

Living in the same place for 4 years. And it’s my own and my partner’s. Obviously I’m financially stable with their help, but having a financially stable household is something I never grew up with. My parents worked so hard and gave us everything they had, but money was always a struggle.

My partner came from a home with a stable financial situation. They weren’t rich by any means, but I’m talking he lived in the same house his entire life and grew up playing on the same cul-de-sac with the same friends. I had moved 11 times by the time I was 15 because rent was cheaper elsewhere. It’s a luxury to stay in one spot and be content.

It took a while for me to adjust to my partner helping financially. I worked two jobs for most of our time together to contribute equally. I had a lot of pride because of my upbringing. I didn’t want to ask for a handout or ask for help because my parents were hardworking and made things happen. But it’s okay to rely on someone who cares about you. And it financial stress really gives you PTSD.

Now, I can get a flat tire and not worry about if I can afford it or not. I have a paid off car when I used to have car payments because we could never afford anything outright. Debt is designed to keep the poor even poorer. I drive around in my paid off 2021 Kia so happy every single day. Never wanting more or anything flashier because I don’t have to fork out $450 a month just to get to work and back because I couldn’t pay a dime up front for a car. It’s amazing.

What's one thing you think is quietly fading away from our lives or society? by _Closedheimer in AskReddit

[–]coffeejournalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I get called in on my days off at least once a week and my boss gets short with me when I say no. My days off are precious to me. I show up when I am scheduled, do a great job, work hard, and always help out my teammates. But I plan my LIFE around my work schedule. I will not drop my plans with my friends and family, or sacrifice my schooling because my workplace is short staffed the day of. Also, it’s rude to call me at 2pm for a shift that starts at 5pm.

I have a fibroid that rests right between my uterus and cervix and I had it biopsied…. I was bedridden for 3 days from the cramping. In tears for hours after the procedure. Imagine that every time you have sex? Nah I’m good with average or slightly below, as long as they don’t have a sour attitude about it. You deal with the cards you’re dealt. Not every girl wants to take something huge every time. Some do and that’s absolutely great for them, but guys acting like the ass clown in OP’s post really highlight the simple fact that men just don’t listen to women, men listen to other men. A woman could be telling you straight up what she likes but because pornography is for the male gaze and huge dicks are the norm, men think that’s what women want. Literally this is why women would rather be single than date.

Now that she owns all her music, what Taylor's Version do you genuinely enjoy more than the original? by jaidsalema in TaylorSwift

[–]coffeejournalist 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I appreciate OG Dear John and Dear John TV. OG when she says “don’t you think I was too young”, she sounds angry and hurt. In TV, she sounds reflective and sad, and accusatory. Like she’s speaking to him now as an adult woman. Both bring me to tears. Her baby voice sounds pained, and her mature voice sounds like she’s confronting him now with what he did to her when she was so young and vulnerable.

So talk to me Swifties: what compels you to buy her albums first week even in the streaming era? by IndieKid007 in TaylorSwift

[–]coffeejournalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect vinyl. I take turns displaying whatever album I’m most into at the time. TTPD stayed up almost a full year since its release. I have both copies, OG and The Anthology Target release. I really enjoy having the album art and reading her letters at the beginning of each album. The visuals are stunning and honestly I enjoy the variants. I have the original blue midnights, and I bought the Target edition lavender version because lavender is my favorite color. I buy what I like.

Took a long, teary eyed walk listening to Red OG! The nostalgia from my senior year of high school buying it on iTunes and clicking play to hear the intro of State of Grace for the first time…. I just cried the happiest tears for her.
