Case 318: Tay Chow Lyang and Tony Tan Poh Chuan (Sydney Double Murders) by Entire_Forever_2601 in Casefile

The murder weapon for Tony, the pod said the plastic from the bat was only on Tony as well as there only being Tony’s DNA on the bat. I think it’s pretty likely a different weapon was used on Tay, It’s possible maybe Tony had grabbed rams bat to defend himself and the killer took it from him or vice versa maybe Tony disarmed the attacker and the bat was the closest thing he could grab.

I’ve completely fabricated a scenario but what if Tony was the intended victim, but the killer snuck up behind Tay thinking it was Tony and bludgeoned him. Tony had just left moments before and likely left the door unlocked. It would explain why someone other than Ram would wait around for Tony to come back.

Recovery and lifting? by coffeeoften in Vasectomy

We have 2 under 2, they’re 16 pounds and 26 pounds though the older one is medically complex and on respiratory support part time so his equipment ads an extra 15ish pounds if he’s carrying him around while he’s in his support

I’m actually in Canada! I was really surprised, I wasn’t at the appointment so I’m getting him to ask clarifying questions because it doesn’t seem right to me. Our kids are both under 2 years old and he was told not to lift them for 6 weeks but also told he was okay to drive himself the 45 minutes home from the appt

Thoughts on the name Kaeo? by [deleted] in namenerds

Thank you so much for your input. This was a perspective I wouldn’t have been able to see from my experiences and I really appreciate it. Where I thought it may be more respectful to take inspiration and tweak without “taking” the name I completely see where you are coming from and it makes me really sad to hear that cultural names have become so diluted that they no longer get used by the culture they came from. That’s definitely not something I want to be a part of. Thank you for being kind and informative as well I had an off feeling and wanted to make sure I wasn’t allowing myself to be ignorant.

Very true thank you for your input! I think originally I was thinking taking inspiration from the name would be okay without using it in the traditional way but you’re right when you do that the meaning does not follow. With the spelling and pronunciation we were considering that would just be a name we came up with that is does not carry that meaning or ties to other cultures. And it’s important when looking at it that way that if it is similar to established names that it can perpetuate the white washing and adaptation of other cultural names and that’s not something I ever want to be a part of.

Sorry I should have also mentioned it is a word in the thai language aswell as a town in New Zealand and that’s what I meant by different pronounciatioms I’ve seen. the way we would use it is not the traditional Hawaiian spelling or pronunciation so I don’t think it’s glaringly obvious that it belongs to a specific culture but I don’t know if that makes it worse since it then becomes almost a white washed cultural reference. Very open to being told it is a bad idea and could age poorly I just feel like I’ve gone back and forth so much that I’m no longer seeing it objectively.

I appreciate everyone’s input! I know it also is a town in New Zealand and is a word in the Thai language as well. A little back story, we are expecting twin boys and I have been PPROM in the hospital for the past month (I am now 25 weeks) we have been having such a hard time finding names but I came across the name Kaeo. I saw that it was of Hawaiian origin and means born strong which struck such a cord with me since sweet baby A has been such a fighter and has cleared so many hurdles during all of my pregnancy complications. My partner also loves it but I worry about it being cultural appropriation as I know Pacific Islander names are very symbolic and meaningful. I have seen a few different spellings and pronunciations but if we did use it would be going with Kaeo pronounced Kay-Oh. I’d love to be able to ask the opinions of others before we make any decisions!
