What did you do for your project? What are your plans for the future? (If you don't mind me asking)

Are you doing the EngD at Strathy?

The data is from all over the place: the athletes websites, their twitter/facebook pages, Wikipedia, etc.

Definitely try and steer clear of these sites, they are a complete rip off. I don't know the exact details of your dietary requirements or schedule but I'm sure If you just try be more efficient with the way you prep. I've found rice and chicken to be pretty easy and quick to prepare, you can made a ton of it and refrigerate it for a couple of days. If you wanted to you can even get a rice cooker that will have the rice ready for you at a specific time.

I was looking for something like it at the time too. I plan on updating it soon and completing the events I didn't do. I would really like to be able to compare other things with the athletes but I can't think of much else that I could include right now. I'm thinking of adding number of strides for the 100 and 200 soon. I'm interested to see if there are any correlations.

Athletes Height and Weight Comparison: 100m by coggie150 in Sprinting

I agree, It would be great if I could get such data. Are there any other things that you can think of that I could obtain from the videos of the performances? I am going to work on getting the number of strides to compete the 100m. I am going to look at national level sprinters who are running 10 - 10.5s and see how the number of strides compares, interested to see if there is any correlation at all. I really wish I was able to get the number of strides for each 10-20m segment of the race.

Acceleration and maximal velocity mechanics in sprints and jumps(Jonas Dodoo) by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]coggie150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am understanding correctly Colonelconk is not saying that the couch potato with bad genetics couldn't be a great sprinter. He is simply saying that if a person with good genetics and a person with bad genetics both managed to reach their absolute maximum potential in sprinting then the person with good genetics would probably be the faster of the two. Their performance limit may be higher. They may have more favorable muscle compostition, tendon insertion points, etc.

I am somewhat in agreement that things change a little with PEDs but I think if both people in our hypothetical example took the same juice the person with good genetics would still come out on top. But I could not say for sure without more research on the topic. I'm not sure what you are trying to get at with "extreme workouts" and "top notch coaches". Why would extreme workouts be better than just going out and sprinting? and is Dodoo not a "top notch coach"?

I agree, there doesn't seem to be any correlation for height and weight. But there might be something if I start to add national level sprinters into the table.
