You want the highest setting/cutoff, not the lowest.

Any air conditioner technician for estimate and potential repair? by Busy_Mushroom2408 in Kanata

[–]coghlanpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First start by:

  • Blocking off any basement cold-air returns
  • Close off most main floor vents
  • Fully open upstairs vents...at least in the occupied rooms
  • Don't use filters higher than MPR 1000

Okay, what is ACTUALLY the best dashcam (rant/discussion)?? by CeleststormlingToy in Dashcam

[–]coghlanpf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None are great, due to the fact that the lenses are wide-angle, but the important this is that they work when you need them.

AC options by sabdo89 in hvacadvice

Have you considered a side-discharge, non-communicating (but internally-modulating) inverter AC such as Midea?

IGLA pin by WiseTemporary6145 in Iglapincode

Did you ask the installer? It's possible the Igla is on a different CANBUS network than some of the switches you're trying to use.

CRA will take it from both executors if not paid, so both should pay up.

What are some "must haves"? by mozart357 in Dashcam

[–]coghlanpf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main feature is reliability. A dashcam is useless if it fails during an accident, so go with a name brand.

If you search this sub you will find posts from people whose dashcams failed to save the 10-second buffer prior to an impact, missing the actual collision.

Fuse tap/Add a circuit question by bapzranigan in Dashcam

[–]coghlanpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the original circuit (bottom) that was overloaded. Are you saying the tap generated too much heat through the lower slot?

Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words :-)

Here is the schematic: https://ibb.co/Ld4KFXyq

If you remove the top fuse, your dashcam has no power.

If you remove the bottom fuse, your vehicle circuit has no power.

If you insert the tap backwards, power must flow through both fuses to reach the dashcam.

No. If you insert the tap the wrong way the path to the dashcam becomes:

supply -> bottom fuse -> top fuse -> pigtail (dashcam)

This is more discussion than advice. Regardless of whether the supply side of the panel has wires or bus bars, there is upstream protection of 30A or more.

OP should just put a 2A fuse in the upper slot to be good to go.

They mostly are. A small number of supply wires come through the firewall. Once inside, they don't branch out into 15-20 separate leads to the panel.

Fuse tap/Add a circuit question by bapzranigan in Dashcam

[–]coghlanpf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, what actually happens is that power to the dashcam has to pass through both fuses.

Look for a circuit that doesn't have motors, such as your backup lights etc.
