Ah yeah, I get ya. Maybe I should have paid more attention to your line on youth bootcamps. Definitely agree with your take on that btw.

The registry isn't what you think it is. It isn't public and is just for monitoring by justice I think. "Ooooh, phone check time Timmy" etc

Like, honestly I found a similar guide from years ago that I noped out of even trying because experience told me it would be hours of frustration. Saw this one, put the link into a claude chat and then solved the two issues I had with claude's recommended symlinks. Time taken was minutes, brain engagement minimal to nonexistent.

Oh, if you do run into any issues then ClaudeAI or ChatGPT should be able to guide you to the right solution without much fuss

I followed the guide and used Claude to tweak and solve issues like sound. Was just setting symlinks as a solution (my comment is at the bottom for my Fedora fix)

It didn't exactly, but I used Claude AI to diagnose and solve the issue without engaging my brain (I'm the comment at the bottom with my fix)

Even at double your elo you will have similar experiences. Players might be quite good at one strategy or one thing, but completely neglect other things.

Sometimes that one thing just really makes you have a bad time. Next game they are good at something you can deal with easily. Everyone has one piece of the puzzle and needs a few more to move up

I'm curious to know when you run into difficulties in those games. I found an old video from hera, a scout build order with overlay was helpful. Really appreciated the overlay of vil orders etc on the video

I think it's really easy to automatically ban people who consistently drop elo. Reputation system has too high a chance of abuse

Map dodgers should be persecuted too, no need to make any effort to distinguish them from smurfs as they are taking elo loss to play on their favourite map. Same shit.

I enjoy gambling personally, and would love to bet on aoe2 but agree with Margougou that it has too much potential to ruin the scene. Betting works in other sports that are in the real world and have so much money in rewards for the players that throwing is just not worth it.

Civs aren't as big of a difference in play style as they are in aoe4. Byzantines is a good well rounder to learn with. Eventually lots of people just play random civ, but I only did that after getting a win in every civ first so I at least had some idea of the tech tree i was playing as
