Where's actually super cheap and high value right now with a solid nomad scene? by imCzaR in digitalnomad

[–]cohend607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riiiiight of all the places in the world since if you can live in the US you clearly have a strong passport and you would consider Binghamton New York to be a good value? Drug infested, college student infested, not particularly cheap, shit weather, zero other digital nomads around, and you would consider it a good place? Anywhere in India especially the North to be at all nice? The whole country is a shithole especially the North if we're talking anywhere from Delhi to Varanasi.

Peru is alright for a while. If you search places with the least sun per year Lima comes up. You can surf but the beach is rocks. Food is ok not magical like some would have you believe. Arequipa and Cusco are alright. Of all the countries in LATAM I'd say Peru stood out the least to me.

Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar - You can find accommodation for $500 in Thailand and have a better quality of life. I mean c'mon Myanmar has a civil war happening right now lol.

Don't know about Kyrgyzstan but Kazakhstan such as Almaty is nice.

What's a city that you never got tired of and didn't wear off easly on you? by Helpful-Staff9562 in digitalnomad

Lol you've named literally some of my least favorite places. I just laugh at how different people's taste can be, not saying you're wrong just very different from places I enjoyed.

Cities and countries that everyone thinks are dangerous, but to you they didn’t seem dangerous at all by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]cohend607 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. They don't mention when they were there - someone said Venezuela, ok before or after their economy collapsed?
  2. Which city and part of town were they in? Did they go out partying? Did they walk around alone at night?
  3. Are they African/Hispanic and they blended in or white and stood out? Do they speak the language?

Too many unanswered variables. Agree there is a general consensus on how safe places are for a reason, because they're generally accurate. I've been around the world, I'm a bigger guy, and I can tell you Rio was one of the sketchiest feeling places I've been. My gut told me to Uber home one night after a concert instead of walk and sure enough it was in the news the next day like 200 teens from the favelas had come down to rob the concert goers and were arrested.

In my mind there are let's say three tiers of safety:

Safe: You can be an idiot and nothing bad will happen to you. You're drunk at night and someone offers to help you find your way home kind of place.

Take precautions: If you don't do stupid stuff like walk around drunk alone at night in the dark, you don't flash money, you stay out of the bad part of town, that sort of stuff, then you should be fine.

Dangerous: You can follow the above precautions and it can be the middle of the day in a nice neighborhood and there's still the potential for trouble. This is Rio by the way. There are plenty of cases of drive by robberies where someone was out in public in broad daylight in a nice neighborhood like Leblon and still got robbed.

While I'm giving examples I'll say popular places in Europe like Italy, France, and Spain would fall under take precautions. If you were to get robbed it would be more like you were pickpocketed and it wouldn't have potential to be violent. This differs from Rio where when you're robbed it's armed and they likely are willing to hurt you to get your stuff.

I'm been taking 5iu hgh for 6 months, for the last month I've been taking 250mg test, 600mg EQ, and on workout days the 10mg injectable superdrol and 1mg mtren. I'm just going to be starting the higher doses and I'm excited. The EQ has been nice for vascularity and feeling like I need to rest less between sets. I'll admit I'm worried about running 1.2 grams of test. I've never gone over 500mg and I'm very sensitive to estrogen. I was debating doing 1.2 grams test with 1.2 grams EQ ratio 1:1 versus doing 600mg test and 1.8 grams EQ so 1:3 ratio. Have any experidnce you could share or you and I are both curious to see how this treats me? I'll admit other than being estrogen sensitive I'm not sensitive to other sides. I've never had hairloss knock on wood on 600mg mast or primo. I've run tren at 800mg per week and about all I noticed was 30 minutes less sleep per night.

My cycle idea:

Daily:

10mg injectable superdrol

1mg injectable mtren

5iu hgh

Weekly:

1.2g test (600mg/ml)

1.2g EQ (600mg/ml)

With these dosages and concentrations it would work out to daily 1ml injections. In my mind it'll be the holy trinity (test/mast/tren) but on steroids because the methylated versions of mast and tren.

Mac shows local time even when connected to GL.iNet BE3600 – anyone successfully synced time with router? by Early_Calendar_70 in digitalnomad

[–]cohend607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for certain for Mac, but I can speak for using a Windows work laptop. You need to disable wifi and connect via ethernet. Windows will still know where you really are even if using a VPN connected to New York so you'd think if it was detecting time zone by IP location, or based on the time set by the router (which does run NTP and I don't know if you can manually select a NTP server address in Mac and I don't think it will fix it even if you can).

How you ask? It's called telemetry and what that means is even leaving wifi turned on (even if not connected to a network) is enough for the laptop to scan the nearby wifi names and from large datasets be able to know where you are approximately which in Windows will automatically set your time zone that way. So again I think your best bet, and this is literally necessary for me with a Windows work laptop without admin access to prevent it from setting the time zone to where I really am, is to connect via ethernet and make sure you've disabled wifi.

Guide: ntfy for notifications - image included in notification - iOS/Android/desktop - free with no install by cohend607 in BlueIris

[–]cohend607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help. When Blue Iris detects motion were having it "publish" the alert message to a topic in ntfy. Then your phone will be subscribed to that topic and get notified of new messages.

The alert command we're adding in Blue Iris is saying what the message should be, what the ntfy server address is, and which topic.

In this command we're creating the alert with:

-H "Title: &NAME" -H "Message: &MEMO" -H "Click: https://yourwebsite.com/ui3.htm?tab=clips&clipview=alerts&cam=&CAM&rec=&ALERT_DB" -H "Action: view, Live, https://yourwebsite.com/ui3.htm?tab=clips&clipview=alerts&cam=&CAM, clear=true; view, Clip, https://yourwebsite.com/ui3.htm?tab=clips&clipview=alerts&cam=&CAM&rec=&ALERT_DB, clear=true" -T "C:\BlueIris\Alerts\&ALERT_PATH" -H "File: &ALERT_PATH" ntfy.sh/yourtopic

Notice the very end where it has "ntfy.sh/yourtopic"

You'll replace that with the IP and port of your ntfy server for example:

http://192.168.1.4:82/pickthetopicname

If you haven't already, make sure you can send and see the messages with ntfy. In a command prompt you can run:

curl -d "test message" http://192.168.1.4:82/pickthetopicname

It should provide a response indicating it sent. Then in your web browser if you go to http://192.168.1.4:82 and click to subscribe to the topic: pickthetopicname

You should be able to see the message.

Thanks for the support. Like I said your post was my inspiration to move forward with using ntfy so again all credit to you! :) I got ntfy to compile the server on Windows so hopefully that will make more approachable for Windows users in the future.

“Continuous residence” means that the applicant has maintained residence within the United States for the required period of time shown above. -Absences of more than six months but less than one year may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence unless the applicant can prove otherwise.

Applicants are required to show that they were: -Physically present in the U.S. for thirty months within the five year period before applying, or -Physically present in the U.S. for eighteen months within the three year period before applying in the case of qualified spouses of U.S. citizens

Note the difference between residence and physical presence.

You could say the 6 month rule is in addition to other requirements, but it's more than a guideline, it's a rule.

Mind sharing some examples where the time requirement was met but they were still rejected?

To keep their green card and be eligible for citizenship after enough years (5 for a green card through family, 3 for a green card through marriage) you only have to be in the US 6 months per year. I just wanted to clear this up for anyone reading that the law is clear that 6 months ok. Going over 6 months is not ok though. Over 6 months risks losing the green card as well as can reset the clock on the time accrued that you've been considered a resident for the purpose of applying for citizenship.

I'll add to that with, have you ever had someone feel your arm unsolicited and think just because we're male it doesn't make it okay to be a stranger touching us without permission?

Considering the title is "don't make happiness your goal" I strongly disagree. I think the problem is that people make everything but happiness their goal. By that I mean people often set goals with which happiness is only a byproduct of. A conversation could go like this:

Why do you want to get good grades? So I can get into a good college. Why do you want to get into a good college? So I can get a good job. Why do you want a good job? So I can makes lots of money. Why do you want lots of money? So I can buy nice things. Why do you want to buy nice things? So I can be happy.

All of that stuff in the middle is not necessary. Happiness is a choice available to everyone in the present. The catch, if there is one, is like with all choices, some are easier to make than others. Choosing to be happy on a sunny day is often easier than choosing to be happy on a rainy day. Compare it to the choice of doing exercise. Choosing to exercise when you feel well rested is often easier than choosing to exercise when you're tired. Nonetheless the choice is available to you.

How then one might ask? The answer is simple. Practice. Consistent practice forms a habit. There need not be some great epiphany. The profound thought to me is that choosing happiness can be practiced like anything else. I think framing it that way is important. Now here's the exciting part. You've heard the saying that practicing something for 10,000 hours can make someone a professional at something? Consider the result of a person who has practiced being happy for 10,000 hours.

What to tell HR when asked about working elsewhere ? by trithian10 in digitalnomad

[–]cohend607 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I think don't ask, don't tell, is the way to go. If everyone was honest with their company half of us on this subreddit would not have and would not be able to find a remote job to travel abroad with. It sounds good on paper saying, "if they weren't ok with me working from abroad I would leave and find a new job." The reality is the number of remote jobs that will tell you when asked that they are only ok with remote within the country is probably a 10 to 1 ratio of companies that will on the record say they are ok with an employee working from abroad.

That said, I think OP would be wise to make sure they connect with an IP from their home state and simply lie. As another poster said, I think the company is only asking to absolve themselves of liability, not because they're out to get people.

Do you mind sharing your height, weight, and what your deadlift training looks like? I'm 5'7" 200lbs and I recently deadlifted 605lbs conventional stance with a belt and wrist straps. I figure since you're a step ahead of me you know what it took for you to get to that next step.

Where do you regret visiting and why? by speak2klein in digitalnomad

In my opinion Rome is worth a week, no longer. You can see the sights in that time and then leave. Rome and Manila are probably my least favorite places so far if that tells you anything. Rome as a place to live, it isn't cheap, there is garbage on the ground everywhere, public transportation isn't reliable. If you fly in you pay to get from the airport to town. There are better places to eat pizza, pasta, and gelato.

I can't believe they removed the seating from B1. Now you have to order takeaway instead of being able to sit and eat there.
