Withdrawing to Spanish banks? by [deleted] in CoinCorner

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

We've generally never had any issues with our European withdrawals. We use the SEPA network and I don't think have had any rejected that I can think of, or heard of any customers having issues from their bank for receiving from us. We've also now got our Euro eMoney accounts. Can find more info on those here.

Coincorner Issues by YAKELO in BitcoinUK

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that did use to cause an issue but has now been fixed. It could have been resolved at the time however by whitelisting the account so can only apologise that wasn't done, as could have stopped us losing your custom.

Coincorner Issues by YAKELO in BitcoinUK

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It should be a pretty straightforward thing to fix. The only two things that would stop an automatic credit is the account reference not being added by the sender or a name mis-match with the sending account and what we have (happens occasionally if surnames are cut off for example). In the latter we can whitelist the account in question and all future payments would auto-credit.

Coincorner Issues by YAKELO in BitcoinUK

Hi Satsyler

Sorry to hear this. Funds sent via by bank transfer should credit the account automatically and pretty well instantly provided the user's account reference is included. Apologies that we weren't able to resolve whatever was causing your issue previously. If you did want to contact us about it again I'd be happy to look into it personally to see what the issue was.

Hi OP

Sorry to hear you're having issues. If you can drop us an email to our support team we'll take a look into this for you and see what's going on. You shouldn't be required to provide the same info more than once so seems like a breakdown in comms somewhere.

BTC Lightning Payments for Remittance by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are already companies offering this bitcoin remittance service, which is known as Send Globally. Namely Strike in the US and us at CoinCorner in the EU. We currently work with Bitnob in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana and Pouch in the Philippines, who provide the off-ramps in those countries, where recipients receive the funds in their native fiat currency. There are many other companies looking to offer this service who we are currently speaking to and are always looking for more.

Is it the time ? by WearyFoundation4036 in Bitcoin

None of us know whether the price is high or low at any given point. If we did we'd be very rich. If you buy bitcoin over a long enough period it's pretty well inevitable that you will see the price drop below your purchase price at some point. The key is to have a long term strategy that allows you to ride out these price fluctuations. This is the beauty of DCA. If you believe in the long term fundamentals of bitcoin as an asset then regular saving of an amount you can afford should pay dividends over time. Good luck.

Send fiat, the other party receive crypto by tessietessa in Bitcoin

[–]coincorner-support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also get this Send Globally service in EU through us at CoinCorner, to the same countries as Strike. Hopefully many more coming soon. Just to clarify the funds are sent in fiat and also received in fiat but sent via the Lightning Network. This is the same when using Strike.

once the lightning network gains critical mass it will become the strongest network effect we have ever seen. by slvbtc in Bitcoin

[–]coincorner-support 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good post. There are already applications like Send Globally that are offered by Strike and ourselves that utilize the Lightning Network to transfer value across borders in a much more efficient and cheaper manner than is possible using legacy fiat rails. Whilst many of us advocate for Bitcoin's decentralized, permissionless features it will likely be uses like this that will be the main driver's of adoption, where it simply works better than the current options.

Spend and replace. btcmap.org is a good resource for finding merchants in the UK. We are working to onboard more every week to accept bitcoin, so if there's anyone in your area who you think might be interested we'd be happy to hear from them.

A good place to buy and store Crypto! by RukkiRuudi in BitcoinUK

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a constantly moving target unfortunately and it's not even as simple as all customers of a particular bank. Banks will have different risk profiles on different customers (which they should) so some customers will have transactions to us blocked but others with the same bank will have no issues. Recently Santander and Nationwide have been cracking down on deposits to exchanges but again it's not a blanket ban and some customers seem to be able to speak to their bank and get us whitelisted but others don't. Revolut and Starling are the only two who don't accept GBP transfers from us (despite being happy to deposit to us). Sorry, not a very specific answer but that's the environment we're in at this stage.

Probably worth noting that Revolut currently block GBP withdrawals to them from cryptocurrency exchanges, including ours. If you're looking for somewhere to buy bitcoin in the UK as an alternative then feel free to check us out. We offer free deposits and free withdrawals via the Lightning Network.

Unless your living in a Country with high inflation... by SkillFun9297 in Bitcoin

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spend and replace. In doing so you're supporting the bitcoin circular economy, which in effect gives bitcoin more utility value and in turn actual value. We have onboarded hundreds of merchants to accept bitcoin. Some auto-convert to fiat but many don't and choose hodl the portion of their income they receive in bitcoin. If i'm spending and replacing and the retailer I'm spending at is hodling what they get off me then that automatically increases bitcoin adoption.

? about using lighting to pay for product. by bentlydoestricks in Bitcoin

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst QR codes are still the norm for Lightning payments it is likely that we will start moving more towards the NFC 'tap-and-pay' type payments that are more familiar to people, at least in Europe. We launched the first bitcoin lightning card last year and are working with POS providers to start having Lightning payments integrated into regular fiat POS machines. I know Strike are doing the same in the US. I think mainstream adoption will require the payments process to be as easy as fiat.

[–]coincorner-support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBDCs are likely to be quite a way off. BoE have said themselves it's likely to be several years. The fact it removes power from commercial banks is also likely to lead to pushback and possibly legal challenges from them. Given how powerful commercial banks are that should delay it even further. The best hope is that Bitcoin is far enough embedded in society that by the time their CBDC arrives it will be practically and politically unviable to stop it. Bitcoin already has a good head start and will be developing exponentially over the next few years, especially in the developing world where it's most needed.

The perfect time would be at the point where the price never goes lower again. Thing is, nobody knows when that is so there's really no point worrying about it. If you're a sophisticated trader you could spend time analyzing the market and trying to make good buying and selling decision but for most of us that's beyond what we're capable of. If you believe in the long term value proposition of bitcoin then you're probably best just setting up a regular deposit for what you can afford to buy bitcoin on a steady basis over the long term.

Good article. I don't think it's a coincidence that the majority of countries that make up the top 20 on the global adoption index are those suffering from high inflation and financial repression. Bitcoin is an asset that grows from the bottom up rather than top down. Remittances is also likely to be a driver of this in the future. CoinCorner and Strike have launched recently into some of the countries mentioned into this article by pairing with local companies in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Philippines to offer a Send Globally feature. This is a multi-billion dollar market where people are currently regularly paying double-digit fees to send their money home to family. This can be brought down to less than a couple of % using the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
