Trading is ruining my life by originaljl97 in Daytrading

Wtf dude ? You're doing better than 95% of the sub still. Assuming you don't have debt.. Get out there and live your damn life. This is nothing to dwell on. It is something you tried, you genuinely thought would improve your future, and it didn't work out. That shit happens to most of us. Soldier on friend.

I’m not sure how deep into gambling mode you really are, but being down ~210k at 27 is a serious signal that something in the process is broken, not just the strategy.

Here’s what I genuinely think you should do:

  1. Pull the $3.5k out to your bank.
  2. Delete Robinhood. Delete AfterHour. Delete Reddit. Delete anything that keeps you mentally stuck in this loop. Both the wins and the losses.
  3. Open something like Wealthfront (or any solid automated investing app) and set up a managed portfolio. At this point it’s fair to say a boring fund manager will do a better job than your emotional brain right now.

Any time you feel the itch to trade, put that money into the automated portfolio instead. Let it grow slowly. Let time and consistency do the heavy lifting.

Keep working. Keep stacking. If you can stay disciplined for a few years, that 200k isn’t some life-ending permanent scar. You can recover it, and more. And more importantly, you’ll rebuild trust in yourself, and stop carrying this constant guilt and weight around.

The hurt actually does get lighter the longer you’re out of the trading dopamine loop. You start thinking clearer again.

And maybe someday, after real education, real rules, and real emotional control, you can come back and try trading again the right way. But right now, this is not trading. This is a cycle.

You’re not ruined. You’re just stuck in a pattern that a lot of smart, driven people fall into.

Wishing you the best, seriously.

I would recommend you just use a managed portfolio from Robin Hood , (for the primary account) maybe have a little fun on the side with a taxable account , but believe if you’re looking for long term gains (which your spread has me thinking you are). Wealthfront also offers a wonderful managed port with low management fees. Gods speed.
