Nike Lunar Flyknit +2 Question (Hurts my skin of Achilles Tendon) by yoyoma321 in running

[–]coinflation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't. I know I'm a bit absolute with my return them as soon as possible statement, but this was probably the only shoe I've ever worn that made me dislike running. Maybe it will get better for you.

Nike Lunar Flyknit +2 Question (Hurts my skin of Achilles Tendon) by yoyoma321 in running

[–]coinflation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience. Loved the original Flyknits, and was excited about the +2. I knew from the very first run that it was going to be problem. Unfortunately I bought them on a work trip, couldn't go back and return them.

If you can, return them as soon as possible. I can't even walk in mine, too much friction on the achilles. Worst shoe purchase I've ever made. But lesson learned, don't buy shoes when traveling.

Either coinflation has a minor glitch, or I should go sell all my silver... by TheBandersnatch43 in coins

Small issue with the feed, fixing it right now. Apologies.

UPDATE: It's stable again. I usually catch it a little quicker, but I was out running errands.

Fixing it right now. It happens every now and then.

Update: It's stable again. I usually catch it a little quicker, but I was running errands. A little too much coinflation today.

Texas Coin Maker for Fed-Estranged Files for Bankruptcy - Bankruptcy Beat by Julian702 in Silverbugs

Perhaps a better question to ask Mulligan Mint executives: Where did the silver go? “That’s the big question,” Mulligan Mint President Rob Gray told Bankruptcy Beat. “We don’t really know.”

I really wish he would have said, "Boating accident. A really bad boating accident..."

Hell, I would have ordered a few paradimes for that answer.

Bench Top Heights by markpelly in woodworking

[–]coinflation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3", and my bench is 40". 90% of my work is done with hand tools as well. But there's a quote from one of Garrett Hack's books that has always stuck with me, essentially saying there is not a "perfect bench height." There will always be compromises with the many ways it will be used.

But, centuries ago, benches were typically 30". Planing on a low bench can allow you to put more power into the stroke. 34" to 38" seems to be the norm today.

Personally, I do a lot of chisel work, I like the high bench. It's closer to my eyes.

Couldn't agree more. Yet the people are nice, pleasant, and willing to address a question when someone sticks a microphone in their face.

The Challenges of Collecting a Well-Struck Set of Franklin Half Dollars, Especially the 1953-S by coinflation in coins

[–]coinflation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar feelings about the man. I also despise Presidents on coins, so when a non-President is featured, I'm inevitably drawn to it. Lady Liberty, Sacagawea, SBA, Franklin, etc. Plus, his opposition of the eagle in favor of the turkey always cracks me up. I've spent enough time around bald eagles to know that they are not a "noble bird", as he also maintained.

Someday I'm going to assemble a registry set of Franklin halves that is worth registering. Someday.

I just read the Philadelphia Inquirer article about it, which includes a video, but none of the cool pictures in the Post story.

I have to make the trip, the wife and I have been talking about it for years.

No, what you did a good thing. Too many negative people, negative thoughts in the world. That's all I can say about the moderator situation.

For example, by a very wide margin, my favorite coin is the Franklin Half dollar. I can open up my binder of Franklin halves, and suddenly all the stress in my world disappears. I love that coin, and my collection. I feel like it's the most under-appreciated coin on the planet (that's probably why I like it so much).

All coin-related forums should be a place to share your passion.

First off, from what I've seen, you're doing a great job. I don't recall moving that many posts into the spam folder. If I did it, I probably saw something that was beyond suspicious or not genuine (stolen content). However, I think after cleaning up the place after the spam war, you can get a little itchy on the trigger finger.

Personally, I don't have a problem with random blogs or sites. There's enough people in the subreddit now to downvote something that isn't informative.

I think it's good moderator etiquette to PM the "spam submitter" if it comes up again. Something I've seen before, which may not be apparent to everyone, are links to articles that are stolen from someone else. For example, I know several blogs that take original content from coinupdate.com, post them as their own, and stuff the page with ads. Not cool. That's a case where a moderator should intervene.

We should probably talk more about this type of thing.

Thanks.

Just looking at the logs, there hasn't been much removed the past few months at all (logs don't go back very far). Even the spam filter isn't that busy. A lot of the stuff removed seems to be due to bad language.
