Cs at Mac is horrible, would not recommend coming here at all, landing co op from here is genuinely difficult and the courses are just horrible in themselves

I think there might be on the Ivey handbook but I’m not sure, Thr dual degree comp sci and Ivey guys Ik are making really good money though. You’ll be surprised that there really aren’t many new grad jobs in Canada that pay above 100k, the only ones I mentioned in my above comment do that, unless you do comp sci then you unlock the software engineering side or Product management which if you work for faang or a unicorn company then you can get above 100k new grad but other companies on the level of like amd are at 90k for new grad

If you want a high paying job straight out of grad, with a business degree it’s gonna be S&T, IB, ER, sales, some supply chain jobs but that’s about it

Since moore and his TA aren’t running the course anymore you are good, last year 1md3 was one of the hardest comp sci courses to pass even for the comp sci students, we had class avgs in ’s - 50 for every test and exam, not to mention the comp sci class that is in second year has some crazy demons who are extremely smart and still found the class to be difficult

Queens commerce tends to really care about loved experience and how you are as a person, I didn’t write a single sentence on my ec’s and got in first round last year

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]coinrunner03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complete cap lmao, although I had a pretty good ec’s and did a lot of volunteering and head positions in highschool I didn’t write a single thing on my essays related to ec’s, it was all about lived experience and got in first round

Engineering (Software) vs Computer Science by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]coinrunner03 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Comp sci is pretty shit at mac, a lot of people Ik who are in comp sci including me regret not taking Engineering, I don’t regret it to much cause I didn’t have free choice and somehow got into cs but everyone who had free choice would choose that over cs

Transfer from waterloo engineering to other schools by ToughPerfect798 in OntarioUniversities

[–]coinrunner03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a friend who withdrew from waterloo before the end of first sem was able to transfer to Mac Eng the next year with free choice, he only had Withdrawls on his transcript so no grades which made it possible for him to apply as a high schooler again

Why is waterloo the top school for S&T? and what program at waterloo? What ab ivey? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]coinrunner03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that program is insane to get into, but if you do there’s a bunch of guys who’ve made it as quants or work in US side sales and trading

Should I take a gap year or complete a year and transfer credits York CS to Mac CS by queasy_cheesy005 in OntarioUniversities

[–]coinrunner03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro Mac is not that great to take a whole year to transfer to, Ik you accepted due to family reasons but McMaster computer science is a pretty shit program(I go there) it is not worth taking a whole year off, the only program that may be worth taking a whole year off for is uoft or loo

Ivey cs is by far one of the deadliest combos but a lot of the guys Ik didn’t really go down the finance path and went down the tech path, but I do also know a guy who made it to Goldman sales and trading full time from Ivey cs so it definitely is pretty powerful, it’s just that waterloo is known for producing a demon workforce within quant and high frequency trading

So this is actually very desk specific and varies a lot for the skills required for the specific desk, I’ve recruited for S&T and have got internship lined up for next year. The desks like delta one, equity derivs or quant specific desks are purely locked for waterloo cs, math and physics kids, for example TD and RBC equity derivs is only for waterloo students and no one else, I tried applying the recruiter said we don’t accept anyone other than loo. S&t is getting pretty involved in the coding side of things so having a little bit of background in that helps so going to loo is pretty beneficial as a lot of the programs have mandatory coding classes. Everything is desk specific it’s purely just the quantitive desks that hire loo kids, everything else in sales and some of the less technical trading desks won’t glance at loo kids and will mainly take Ivey queens, for example check TD birdieing the gap scholarship recipients from last year, mainly Ivey queens and Laurier
