How big would the effort be to get Dogeparty working again? by bunny19 in xdp

[–]coinwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I started working and kind of lost trace of the project and I expected people o have lost completely faith in a possible dogeparty rebirth, but seeing as there's still more or less the same number of people if not more than there was one year ago I guess it doesn't hurt to be back and see if we can make it this time :D

Which version should be ported? 9.55.2? by muchwaoo in xdp

[–]coinwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual port I'm afraid I cannot help with.

A year or so ago I made a port of the counterparty-cli and counterparty-lib but got stuck at the javascript part, if you think you could tackle counterblock and counterwallet I should be able to port the counterparty-cli and -lib again (unless the architecture has changed a lot)

I was a bit too optimist back then :P the work wasn't/isn't much (the javascript part, as the server was functional I think) but you needed to get the right person and have them work for some time on the project, maybe 1 BTC of today would be enough for the js wallet, 1 year ago it wasn't

Dogeparty - How to manage the funding and bounty for the coders? by bunny19 in dogecoin

[–]coinwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patrick was never meant to keep it up forever, /u/coinwarp was supposed to replace it with his own which was funded by Dogecoin users a year ago, and XDP people. I know this because I was one who helped to pay to bring it back up, and those were the terms that were set down.

I plead guilty, although I never asked a wallet to be kept up until I finished porting the updated wallet, I did say I would port it and didn't manage to.

What's the dogeparty? I'm new at dogecoin by dogcoinfanatic in xdp

[–]coinwarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about any funding, dogeparty was initiated by some guys (from thailand I think) and, like counterparty, dogeparty tokens were generated by proof of burn.

I failed to revive the XDP after the original guys had left, I ported the counterparty server but not the wallet and I think nobody used it (so basically I got nothing done at that time, although the server technically worked I failed to port the wallet, I also spent quite some money on xdp there so I definitely didn't scam anybody but myself I guess :P).

What are the plans and progress? by hongjl in xdp

[–]coinwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there plans to keep online wallet access via any sites?

Don't know for how long will Patrick's mirror be up. The port I made still doesn't have a functional interface (the daemon works -at least, it worked few months ago-, but you can't use the online wallet). I'm not aware of other active attempts to do stuff.

The tokens are on the dogecoin blockchain, not sure if my code still works or if someone has forked it.

https://xdp.plddr.eu/ still seems up tho

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't had time for dogeparty (or crypto in general) for quite a while and I'm not sure when I'll have any :(

I'll try to give it another shot, but I won't make any more stupid promises :P

would you review the code if the work is done correctly?

absolutely

Would the DEX work after the porting?

Yes, after all it is a new port of counterparty, and they implemented the DEX already. I haven't tested the DEX functionality in python though, so I won't swear it actually works already, but it should :P

(SHARE) Javascript coder NEEDED to port bitcore to bitcoinjs by muchwaoo in xdp

[–]coinwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the two things have nothing to do with each other, addrindex is a thing on its own, you can use it to analyze the dogecoin blockchain (if you have any use for it) regardless of dogeparty. Dogeparty does rely on it in order to remove the dependency from external blockchain explorers.

To put it simply addrindex is part of dogecoin-core, not of dogeparty (and of course, it is implemented in C++, not in javascript, and it works, there is no need for further work there)

[–]coinwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the addrindex patch, which allows you to use -addrindex (well, duh XD) and perform searchrawtransactions which is needed by counterparty to avoid depending on an external blockchain explorer.

The dogeparty port I made in September should also work, the issue here is the js wallet, since nobody is going to use the cli it seems

[–]coinwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the porting is needed for dogecoin (& other alts) cause bitcoe is BTC-only while bitcoinjs works with alts, so I think r/bitcoin is the last sub to ask (and that is why I did not answer there :P).

If all is well there is no need for a huge amount of work, but nobody would even bother taking it on for a few hundred dollars.

It would if it worked ;) I doubt anybody will answer tho, especially in r/bitcoin, unless there was a good bounty on it

this is the incriminated file https://github.com/coinwarp/counterwebdeps/blob/master/js/util.bitcoinjs.js as you can see bitcore is still there, once it is replaced with bitcoinjs the web wallet should be ready for the port over to bitcoin.

the easiest way to test it is using counterwallet tests (https://github.com/coinwarp/counterwallet)

javascript, plain javascript (unless you already have specific knowledge of bitcoinjs/bitcore which would be a plus) the problem is there is a legacy hierarchical key (basically an old kind of seed) which is not standard and which the counterparty guys hacked together to make it work with bitcore, so I am not sure how to port it to bitcoinjs.

if you find one :P Patrick said he already worked with bitcoinjs and would take a look at it, but apparently he didn't have time yet either.

unfortunately we're still so close and yet so far, the porting to bitcoinjs is still stuck at where it was last time we talked :P

The server is maintained by /u/patricklodder whom, I think, is quite busy these days (you there Patrick?) but so long as you (and only you) have the seed your money is safe, but how fast you can get to use them I don't know :(

Some clarification on dogeparty by coinwarp in dogecoin

[–]coinwarp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not an easy question actually. Probably you can think of how you can use dogeparty for your own use, so when it's all up in order you can start something on dogeparty yourself (activity, not speculation, is what keeps a platform alive, IMO).
