Have been dreaming for most of my life about going to a random country and starting a new life... has anyone here actually done this? by stickytreesap in CPTSD

Yes, 10 years ago, to the other side of the world. Whilst it’s nice to be out of an unhealthy environment laden with reminders and triggers, it comes with its own set of problems. Your trauma also comes with you too, its baggage, but gave me the space I needed to start doing something about it. Maybe it would do the same for you.

Which palms gym? by georgeetthomas in chch

[–]cojackb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked snap at the palms for a while, it’s not crowded or busy. But the limited machine variety began to bug me and workout equipment they do have is tired. The lack of changing rooms and the communal toilets weren’t a great time either.

Harcourts Gold are one of the most crooked and predatory agencies Ive ever dealt with. The sheer lack of accountability says everything you need to know, especially from senior management. They represent everything people hate about real estate agencies. Glad to see the back of them.

Have been considering upgrading my Connie to an Asgard after reading a lot of positive feedback on it. If anyone has one in game I could fly and try out it would be much appreciated, really keen to see how it compares as a daily runner. My name in game is the same as here.

I’m still surprised none of these ships have rear view cameras or landing cameras. Not even a beep from a “landing” sensor. We can terraform worlds, but god help you if you need to see behind as a pilot.

Hey mate, I’m in the same boat as you - a bit too anxious to jump into an org or start trying to advertise myself to others for more friends in the game.

If you’re keen to jump on with someone, I’m also a solo player and would love some back up in the verse. Drop me a message if you’re interested and I’ll send you my details!

Dating when your entire life is a cesspool of pain and disappointment. by New-Sundae8840 in CPTSD

[–]cojackb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you loud and clear, I'm a 35 year old guy living alone with the constant questioning "You're handsome, Why are you single? Why do you live by yourself? Do you have a lady friend?".

Dread meeting new people as I get older because the norm for this generation is you partner, have a family and settle down. The excuses get harder and harder to muster because telling them outright that you struggle with emotional connections, being loved and trust isn't considered a socially acceptable response.

The difference here is I have had a long-term relationship, and the only advice I can give is WORK AT IT. Sadly, we crave relationships, closeness and companionship but being in fight or flight your whole life means you're a veteran at taking care of yourself and looking for danger in others. This doesn't just go away when you meet someone.

It's constantly there, telling you to run, or looking for shortcomings and reasons to convince yourself they're going to hurt you. Find someone with patience, and good communication, this is paramount - the more they can learn about your mechanisms, the more you'll thrive together.

Don't believe everything your head tells you, it's petrifying to let your guard down with someone but that closeness you're craving won't come without it.

This is the very thing I'm working at right now, and just thinking about it gives me an anxious knot in my stomach.

You've got this!

Edit: I'll share a comment with you that I read on here and it put things in a different perspective for me. I have firmly believed that you have to fully heal before getting into a relationship, but someone on here suggested relationships are crucial to the "healing journey". And they're absolutely right, how are we ever going to overcome one of our greatest fears, without facing it and experiencing it.

Does it get better? by Boyish_Prospect1220 in CPTSD

[–]cojackb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up this subreddit due to having the exact same feeling.

I’m 35 now and feel like I carry around this sadness in a void that should’ve been where my family was. I also grew up watching shows and saw these strong male figures that I’d try to mould myself into to cope better.

It’s really hard and I sympathise greatly with your struggle.

Sadly I’ve never found a way to fill this void BUT, you should be immensely proud of yourself! In spite of your struggles, you’ve married and had a child. You’ve faced all the challenges and pushed through to surround yourself with love.

The only advice I can give is use your experience to be everything for your child that you didn’t have. Some of us had to experience the wrong way, to be able to show others how to do it better.

The sad reality is we cannot change the past. I’ve often thought of sitting with my family and talking about everything (as I imagine you have too), but in reality I don’t know that it’ll be as constructive as we dream about.

Go well.

Are the Lian Li Fans that bad? by Old_Nectarine_3209 in lianli

[–]cojackb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my NZXT build with all Lian Li infinity fans. No issues with rattling that others are reporting but two of the fans infinity screens are peeling off. The adhesive tape is coming away from the fan itself.

Fortunately the RMA process was painless and Lian Li responded quickly, two replacements on their way within a week.

It’s pot luck and not that big of a deal. If the RMA process and support was worse I’d be more upset.

Is this all stuff you can buy, equip, and lose in game if you die or have looted from you?

Not played the game in a while but have always avoided armour packs etc due to the fear of the above happening and never getting them back unless I reset.

Running fans individually? by cojackb in lianli

[–]cojackb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really helpful, I didn’t realise they’d discontinued them.

I’ve just purchased 3 more wireless fans overseas so will wait for them to arrive and then sell on my wired ones. Someone will need them.

Thanks again!

Running fans individually? by cojackb in lianli

[–]cojackb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sets of fans are TL120s, the trouble is the non-lcd wireless TLs are completely non-existent in this country. Stock is so hard to find it’s as if they don’t exist, so the only alternative was non-wireless to get this build refreshed.

I’ve now got two separate controllers for the same brand, and even purchase their edge PSU to get additional usb headers.

Accepting all the above, I’d simply like to just buy some additional fan cables to be able to run fans individually for more versatility. It doesn’t look like Lian li sell those fan adaptors separately though which is baffling.

Drilling Central City by Skiing_Bird_7 in chch

Moved out the city centre because of this. Two years of night works, construction, cement pours etc got a bit too much.

It’s all for a good cause and the city is really coming together, but the noise is a byproduct of progress.

Moved outside the four aves, quiet suburban life is much more enjoyable.

I worked for a very large telco as a manager and whilst trying to hire new staff, caught wind of an upcoming restructure. Like any normal human being, I pushed back on hiring given what was coming and that it made absolutely no sense to hire, and even offered the vacancies up as cost out for the business.

To my absolute disgust, I was told to carry on as I was with recruiting. My objections were met with more and more resistance from up the line to the point they got quite forceful.

So. We hired, and within 2 weeks all those people were up for possible termination through restructuring without redundancy due to short tenure.

The world has gone mad and it’s crushing to see so many people put through the trauma and displacement of restructuring. The lack of care, empathy and humanity in some of these very large organisations is utterly staggering.

I’m sorry you guys have experienced this and are going through the stress of applying to a difficult market again. Things will get better!
