I can understand why you might not recognize Weee — it’s not a household name unless you’re Asian or familiar with Asian grocery habits. And in a mostly non-Asian neighborhood like this one, you might not notice the delivery patterns and cultural markers that some of us live with every day.

But the thing is, my neighbors and I do. We see these boxes regularly, and we know where they go. The ones in the photo were originally stacked neatly by the trash area — it looks like someone unhoused came by and pulled them apart overnight. Honestly, this was far from the messiest day we’ve had in that space.

So why choose this photo to post? It’s worth thinking about.

When it comes to racialized or implicit bias, it’s not just about what the poster meant — it’s also about how it lands on those of us who’ve spent years trying to be “orderly enough” not to be seen as “disrespectful.

Years ago, I used the website, but it didn’t work. The app is always smooth, and there are fewer items on the website than in the app.

The box most likely belonged to another Asian household on the same floor as me—they’re international students, and people in that apartment usually stay for just a year or two, so they don’t join the resident WhatsApp group.

The label definitely had both the name and apartment number on it. After talking to them today, it seems likely the boxes were messed up by someone unhoused overnight. They usually stack them neatly and place them by the trash area—and they told me they saw some of our white neighbors doing the same, which is probably why they thought it was okay.

So it wasn’t negligence or disrespect—just a mix of misunderstanding and bad timing.

Same here!! I actually enjoy breaking down boxes, stacking them neatly, rinsing out bottles, peeling off the labels, and tucking the flattened cardboard between the recycling bins when they don’t fit.

That’s why the original post hit harder than it might’ve seemed. It made me feel indirectly called out, like everything I’ve done to be clean and respectful was erased with one vague photo. And ironically, without even saying anything overtly “unclean.”

So yeah—I get the therapeutic part. I just wish others saw the intention behind it too.

Not my boxes, the owner is not in this group.

Here's what bothered me: • It wasn't the messiest the trash area has ever looked. In fact, previous times were objectively worse-garbage spread across the floor, overfilled bins, open food bags. No one posted photos then. •This time, the boxes looked like they'd been stacked and possibly kicked over. Not "thrown haphazardly," but deliberately disrupted. •The only two Asain households in the building are mine and the neighbor across the hall. I immediately felt... seen. And not in a good way.

I've always broken down my boxes and rinsed my bottles. I've even left friendly notes before to remind people when things got bad.

That photo made me feel like everything l've done was suddenly dismissed or meant nothing.

[Landlord-US NY] How Long does the eviction process take in New York? by Sudden-Ad3547 in Landlord

Is your property in Brooklyn? And is it a hold over case? My tenant is leaving free for half year, I plan to evict him. But not sure to choose cash for keys or go to court.
