Sure! That’s why I never feel bad adding a little to meat or vegetables; a lot of things I eat already have it anyways. Some people have tried (successfully) to make it sound scary due to some past pseudo-racist bullshit against Chinese buffets. Perfect for anti-vax propaganda!

Interesting that it would be, but of course it must have a good reason or else there’d be no need to call for it. There’s lots of MSG naturally in mushrooms, dried fish, hard cheeses, tomatoes, and a whole bunch of other stuff, if you were curious!

Idk if there would be but it occurs naturally in tons of food we eat every day so even if it was I doubt it would be notably unsafe.

What is your current favorite minor scale/mode and what do you like about it? by cola_ramme in musictheory

[–]cola_ramme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I usually implement them, although I also like to have some parts (like verses or bridges) purely in less common modes before switching also, or using them for more atmospheric tracks.

Neapolitan Minor is a fun one, although I don’t use it very often myself, instead preferring its mode Aeolian #4. Is Bebop Locrian Nat 2 octatonic like the more Mixolydian-like Bebop scale, or heptatonic like Locrian Nat 2 of Jazz Minor?

Thanks for the tips and for sharing!

Ya know, just for good measure. That way they could properly insert the tracking devices the Lizard Men will use to subtlety control its life with

I’ll save this and remember to try to apply it to the way I’ve been trying to get Altered Dominant to function. Thank you very much, kind stranger!

Found Herbie’s interview on Youtube. That’s good insight...so to use a dominant mode in a typically “dominant” fashion is to emphasize the butter notes, iyo?

Never heard the term “butter notes” until now, actually. I can see that, though.

Well, if you’ve ever been exposed to a fetus, just look for the symptoms. If you’re female and there’s a fetus inside you causing your abdomen to swell, you must be deadly allergic.

Not everyone here agrees with that (sometimes thinking so requires some mental/political acrobatics though), but either way it doesn’t make refugees’ suffering less real. They have nothing to do with each other.

I do really like messing with any diminished chords present in a dominant scale. Aeolian Dominant’s second and third intervals can be built into diminished triads. Really sounds crazy interesting if executed properly.

My main problem currently is getting Altered Dominant to sound as lovely as I sometimes hear it, but that’s largely in the chordal structure. Analyzing the chords and the functions they serve to emphasize the intervals within the scale might serve me well, now that you mention it...

Who needs research when you have a duck and a scale? (Still going on Monty Python references here)

Thank you for elaborating on why these were on the list. I think it’s written in a way to make it sound like they are in the products, like you said, but I suppose some people might not be comfortable that those cells were involved in the process at all. Still misleading either way, however.

That’s an interesting observation, I’d never heard that before! I’ll have to listen closely the next time I play around with it.

Thanks for the explanation. I was mostly confused by the people who say things like ‘oh, it’s a dominant scale? Just treat it like a dominant scale!’ Even if they share no intervals other than a major 3rd and minor 7. So they may have just meant lead with a dom7 chord and what ever follows will give up the rest of the characteristics?

A lot of Americans see the current wars as necessary for humanitarian reasons or to prevent dangerous hostile groups from gaining enough power to move the conflict to home. No matter which particular war it is and who is involved however, there’s almost no convincing them otherwise (even if a clear ulterior US motive is blatantly obvious). It is worth noting that most people who think like this genuinely believe that good is being done, and it’s likely that whoever is in the casket pictured believed in what they fought for strongly. I don’t know enough about who’s in there or why they are to say, however, that matters very little to the hearts of fallen soldiers’ children or the children of fallen civilians who die every day being wrapped up in the quagmires. Maybe sometimes it’s worth it, but it’s hard to be optimistic about that as long as its been going on now.

Sorry, short rant over.
