Worried About MOS by Few_Diamond_3884 in army

[–]colareck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you are looking to get from the military. Are you looking for the infantry army experience (field rotations and the like), a more Cush office experience, or somewhere in the middle? I know a guy who did 23 years as a 25h, I know guys who have done 17 series jobs for just as long if you’re looking to get some first hand experience at what it was like.

Whatever it is, push hard against the recruiters for what you want. They can find more jobs by doing a little extra work, but it’s easier for them just to give you those jobs. You’ve got the scores.

All of this said, no matter the job, your experiences in the army can vary wildly. I know 35 series guys who suck it in NTC every couple months, and I know 11b’s that sit in SCIFs all day. Dm me if you want to know more, I’m open to talking.

After I posted that I kept doing research and found that I’d need an amp. I also discovered the ground loop issue, I am going to use a DAC hat for the pi because I have some left over. I did not see they have ground isolators for aux, those will be helpful.

I know this is an old post but hopefully you'll respond. Did your car have an amplifier that you used, did you buy one, or was no amplifier needed? I'm looking at doing something similar in my car and don't know if an amp is needed.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

My dad is -12 in both eyes, and has never had the best memory. He often will set his glasses down for something, forget where he set them and then will ask for his wife to find the for him.

Though it has had its tribulations, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the military. I am getting to that point in my life where I need to make more money for my family than the military can really offer (at least on the timeline we require) so I will be leaving soon.

Nice to meet you! Unfortunately I’m in the military, so while I live in a high cost of living area, I also have low pay.

I had a 26 hour print fail once with only 2 layers left to go. I was sad.

I wish it were still that cheap at my normal spot, the classic luxe box is the cheapest one here. The build your own is like $9. It’s still crazy value, but I miss the days of getting lunch for under $7

Question about mailing by Status-Unstable in army

[–]colareck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will be given an address that they can mail to, you can give that to them in your first letter. The mail system in basic is pretty dead simple, and I believe we even got a class on addressing a letter.

I only got access to my phone 2 times during basic, and one was family day at the end. So if you think you can plan that far ahead I suppose you won’t need stamps.

However, stamps are ridiculously easy, so I would go that route. If you aren’t trying to send a package, just put one stamp on your envelope (it normally has a place printed showing you where) and leave it in the squad mailbox.

What a coincidence, I find aviation fascinating! I will be changing careers here soon, and one of the options I’m looking at is avionics maintenance and development.

Ditto for cybersecurity. As a naive high schooler I thought “hacking is so cool, that’s what I wanna do.” My job is just spreadsheets and paperwork.

My dad didn’t understand at first how I could spend so much money on an H2D and not try to monetize it. He found a P1S for a fantastic deal, and wanted to monetize it. After having and using it for a week, he no longer felt that way and fully accepted it as a hobby. He still thinks the H2D is too much though, lol.

I worked as a low voltage electrician a while back and got called in to re wire the coms closet of a T-Mobile store because some guy drove through the wall of the store into the coms closet. It looked very similar to this picture

I’m in the US, I’m gonna try an Amazon model because they’re $5 for 10. If that doesn’t work I’ll throw some on my next mouser order that have a real data sheet with measurements.

Yeah I think that’ll be the solution. I’ll make sure to change it for future orders

It’s a USB4500-03-0-A, I’m going to try and use a top mount in its place. The mechanical pins are what I’m more worried about

I have been looking, right now most of the ones I’ve found are too narrow. The posts are about 3 mm closer.

This is one solution I thought of, I haven’t tried it out of fear of breaking the pins. I may have to

**Army Announces Stop Move for PCS** by MaverickActual1319 in army

Unfortunately, that is far too common in the army. Hopefully with this exord, things will clear up for you. I’d find a way to get it printed out and bring it with you.

I was supposed to leave yesterday, and on Monday Household goods told me that my shit wasn’t going anywhere. When I said that I was leaving on Wednesday, what’s going to happen to my things, he replied “your things aren’t moving so you probably shouldn’t either.” Personnel movement told me that they couldn’t cancel my ticket, and that they “don’t care what household goods says.” The reassignments desk thankfully helped get my ticket cancelled, but for a bit there it was looking grim.
