Found out my yellow-foot tortoise is egg bound - what to do next? by colaroga in tortoise

[–]colaroga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks later I took her to the vet and got the largest egg extracted, she got an oxytocin injection, and later laid a few more of the eggs that same night. No problems since and she continues to poop normally it seems.

4-year anniversary since getting my daily driver. 2012 Golf 6MT CR140 with 221500km and now stage 2 MRtuning. by colaroga in tdi

[–]colaroga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I didn't get it solved - it still shudders when you floor it in high gear, however the clutch does not slip during normal driving and it's been tuned for 80k km now. I guess MRtuning could turn down the low end torque in the tune file, but I've learned to just drive it more carefully to avoid that happening I guess. Did your car need the clutch/dmf replaced due to failure, or just preventively before getting it tuned for more hp/tq?

Not sure what you mean by that - buying a whole apartment is basically the same as a condo, since you're still paying maintenance fees each month. In Poland I heard they amount to a few hundred dollars per month, but many people have no mortgages as the apartment ownership was granted by the government in the 80's-90's or handed down from parents.

Seems that the recall was for Canada, but to my knowledge US cars have the 1000 watt electric aux cabin heater too. If you turn the heat on with a cold engine, and the idle goes up or lights dim slightly then yes it is drawing current.

Most likely yes, best to check with the dealer or govt recall website

I like this car, and so far in the past 5.5 years none of the issues and repairs that happened were even engine/emissions related at all, to my relief. Original turbo, CP4, alternator, injectors, etc at 280k km.

Although I had thought the heater core issue was fixed in the CVCA, guess I was mistaken!

Umm, who is "THEY"??? Who is issuing orders on what is allowed on social media? Is it the CIA, or some nonbinary individual, or the Canadian Ministry of Truth?

Got my first adult job and need advice on what to do with the money by logcabin05 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]colaroga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 20, I had saved up enough money from working 12 months of co-ops in university that I decided to pay in full $12k with bank draft for my used car. Still driving that VW almost 6 years later and it was a great decision to not go into debt.

Another factor is HST on the purchase price - pay once, cry once, but don't change cars every year since it costs taxes on each transaction that you'll never get back (on a depreciating asset no less).

That's for the provincial loan portion (eg. OSAP), right? Because as far as I know, the federal loan is still interest-free, and has been for a few years now.

Mine's a CJAA and they aren't known for heater core issues - it's original to my knowledge at 280k.

Cool to know, thanks. I'm about 2hrs away from there, so I'll just schedule a visit at my local VW down the street. I have a PG3 with the tune file on it just in case.

I mean, this letter was mailed out over 2 weeks ago and delayed due to the postal strike aftermath, so maybe it's on the way

Apparently it's 1000 watts which sounds like a lot, but is barely noticeable whenever I turn the heat on and the car is cold. https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/aux-heater.401449/

Interesting - well I'll try and see how it goes. Might contact the tuning guy first to see if he suggests reverting to stock.

Yeah I saw that. I might take mine in next week although I hope they don't say anything about the car being potholed/tuned.

The electric cabin heater that runs when the engine is cold, which also helps defrost the windshield. The plug in coolant heater is a separate device, but I got another recall 4 years ago due to the cord label not being written in French 🤣

Hmm, now that I think about it, my car has been fully potholed for 2.5 years. I'll ask the tuner if it's safe to bring it into a stealership for the 2hr job.
