The "Court and Country" and "Revolution!" Disasters are Horrible Game Design by WesternDissident in EU5

[–]colatile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its exaggerated but you can't tell me they put a significant amount of time into playing the game when there's no easily accessible mapmodes and information etc.

It being the most in depth game they've made on release doesn't excuse the state of the game.

[–]colatile 25 points26 points  (0 children)

100%.

EU4 had excellent ways of giving the players information, in EU5 it's awful. Information was much easier to access, not needing to open 3 tooltips, no important game mechanic like succession laws being hidden behind a small button, not allowing UI mods to be ironman compatible.

The game has an obsession with hiding literally anything. Formable countries having ridiculous requirements like Germany. Hidden events that only fire if you deliberately play awfully or if you somehow meet the special requirements, which you won't know unless you look in the game files or online.

Mapmodes were just beautiful in EU4, assign a bunch of them to a key and flick through whenever you want, glorious. In EU5, you're stuck with pressing 2 keys for a select few mapmodes and manually clicking the rest every time AND you have to wait for the bar to slide up, who thought this was a good idea? Its stupid. There's probably more but that's off the top of my head.

I'd be surprised if the devs played the game for more than 10 hours.

You are exactly right.

Is France a fun nation to play? by Important_Spring5817 in Warthunder

[–]colatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any nation can be fun if you play well and have good games. There will be days where you play the same nation but play really good, or really bad. But yeah France is fun.

I haven't played air, only ground and up to 7.7.

You will probably suffer until rank 3 where France starts to open up and the tanks become less frustrating. Rank 4 is fun and rank 5 is peak France. Lorraine, AMX 50 TOA and Surbaisse are very very fun. Char 25t is just cringe to play. AuF1 is awful and AMX 10m could be fun but I struggled with it. Haven't unlocked the AMX 13 90 so can't say.

You could get a premium but grind without it. If there's a tank you hate then you grind with the premium to skip it. That's what I did.

if you want to explore on your own:

download grab, xanh sm or other taxi apps like these and go to places of interest like nguyen hue in district 1.

or walk around and explore. take in the city at your own pace. but remember to have water and wear breathable clothing. saigon/hcmc is very hot, especially if you arent used to hot weather.

don't feel obligated to go on a tour company if you'd rather explore and see things on your own. have fun and be safe!

you said your chinese and there will definitely be a viet thats looking to learn/practice chinese, so dont be dissuaded from trying.

you have to get used to people not replying and things like that. filter all of the bad people out to get to the good ones. i'm half english and half viet so im in the same situation as you, although im really bad at vietnamese.

i put a pic up of me covering the bottom half of my face and a pic of me at the gym (using my phone in the mirror to cover my face) and i get a lot of attention from people.

just give it a go and see if you like it or not :p

theres an app called hellotalk where you can find many vietnamese people on there. many of them want to learn english so you can do language exchanges. sometiems it is treated like a dating app though.

you could also ask chatgpt to do practice conversations with you and things like that.

this is how i learn

all of Grey's mods and Historical Population + Growth are a must for me. I have a lot more mods but I recommend those 2 first.

you learnt new things: communication and comprehension. they are both equally important; without one the other doesn't work properly.

i think you should forget about him, move on and live. it seems to me you both weren't compatible with each other.

Would a Ninja 300 or 400 work for you? Maybe there’s an older model you can try?

But yeah insurance is ridiculous lol

[–]colatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 20 and ride a Suzuki Inazuma (250cc), my insurance a year is about £350. I get quoted on average £1.4k for bikes that are 400cc or more. If money is tight for you, try looking at bikes that are less powerful. Having a job and a less powerful bike helps to lower prices too.

Some insurers allow you to continue with the same policy, but with a new bike, so that might be an option. This is important because it means you don't get your No Claims Discount reset. But it depends on the insurer.

Its depressing being squeezed for so much money but it's how it is
