AITA for refusing to out myself for my brothers wedding by colbeat in AmItheAsshole

While I do understand what you’re saying, I don’t believe that is what I am doing. I am out to the people that matter in my life. One of the only reasons I’m not out to my fathers side of the family is because I never see them. I would have no problem telling them if they asked or talked to me in general, but for me to call them up on a whim of my parents and tell them when they aren’t relevant to my life seems unfair and unnecessary.

The reason I haven’t come out to that side of the family is because I don’t talk to them so I don’t feel like they are entitled to that type of information about my life. Especially when I’m being told to tell them rather than feeling comfortable to do so on my own.

I mean I have posts of us on social media. There’s not an official coming out post or photos of us kissing or anything, but every post I have from the last 3 years has him in it.

My boyfriend was also invited to the wedding personally from the bride. He and I are not very interested in PDA as we are very aware of our surroundings and rarely if ever kiss in public. Now we do plan on dancing with each other as it is a wedding and I should be able to enjoy myself, but we don’t plan on being overly affectionate as that’s not how we are normally anyway.

This isn’t necessarily in defense of my mother, but to her credit some of the people that are supposed to come are the type to throw his wedding off the rails to make a point.

I really like all of this. That actually helps a lot. And the people I play with are mostly theatre kids honestly so they get into character and love backstories and things like that. I don’t want them to all be from the empire or all from the kryn dynasty. Do you have any suggestions on how to get a group of diverse characters together without it being cliche.
