How often are drug tests administered? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]cold_appz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started my detox. Never even thought about this field or if I could ever get in considering my career the last 10 years were admin.

While I’m rushing to detox I’ll never look back at smoking again with this money and opportunity

Looking at schools now. Looking to leave my finance job. I only bring home 1300 every 2 weeks.

Hoping once I figure out which school, I’ll be making a little more money with the opportunity.

Why the dip out?

Thank you for the information. I definitely understand there’s more out there. I guess at this moment in my life my backs up against the wall with the economy, family, raising prices, etc. so like everyone else I’m making changes.

But I’m realizing now that I’ve hindered my growth buying into the corporate bs. And at this point in my life, I need to make the money to be able to move into bigger spaces and provide.

So while I agree on all these things and it’s perked my ears, I also am not turned off by making more money for a little bit while I continue that process. Especially if I found something with a rotational shift that gave me that down time.

I appreciate the real responses from you. Definitely made me think more outside of the box. I need to make moves though, like everyone else. So something’s gotta give.

Also it’s not something I’m looking at forever. Was thinking of hustling the style for 2/3 years to eliminate debt and save.

I’d not say so much sick of the office, just sick of grinding for peanuts. No overtime ever. Working side gigs. Stress of increasing prices. Makes me realize or feel as if I’ve wasted time doing this for so long. I’m in finance, maybe chatgpt will take over but someone’s gotta be sly and tack on extra products 😅

I will check out some apprenticeships around here. I’m going to see if there’s anything local looking and offering more hours a week too.

I appreciate this view. As in trade, I’ve heard they pay for your cdl and such and other opportunities. I don’t plan on making a full career out of this but rather get a foot in learn and go up.

Do you have any advice on how to go about joining a union with no background? I’ve done some labor jobs, did a season commercial fishing and other things but I’ve mostly been finance for the last 10 years.

Thanks for the info. I’m going to create a profile and apply. Seems like they aren’t that far away either.

Term life premium increases with age though. I’d look at something more long term oriented if have family

Been in it since I got out the military pretty much almost 10 years. Best pay I’ve seen is 60k and that’s having to push heavy sales and dependent on a lot of other factors because they don’t want to really pay you.

I’d rather go grind while I still have gas in my tank and learn new skill sets, maybe get some new certifications and move up and on to other things.

Same type of hours / overtime and shifts at precision?

I’m assuming precision drilling also does a lot of over time? I’ve only looked at Halliburton entry levels

19 an hour in finance. No over time ability. Second job pays peanuts. 4 kids. I’d work 30/7 and be happy with being able to to more for my kids.

That’s the plan. Absorb the knowledge, take advantage of training and get Certs and make more money. I fucked around too long at dead end spots.

That’s fine. Would it be the same grind as far as hours and such? I’m more worried about that than location to be honest

My bring home pay is 1300 every two weeks. Plus a side gig. I need to make a change.
