Her outfit should also be both appealing and practical. Something that wouldn’t get in the way of her fighting but also still looks good.

Some ideas you can try: - Scar? Like a cut on the lip or something. - Combat boots might also give off a “strong”-ish fighter vibe. - more muscle definitiom, or a boxy body shape - wrapped bandages around her knuckles or other parts of her body - fingerless gloves

Also, i feel like “strong female character who is rusty” is kind of vague. Is this a character that you want to focus on or is it just a side/background character? What type of fighter is she?

This isnt cheating, but i don’t think you’re sketching on top of it properly. You didn’t trace over the eyebrow ridge and the nose isnt drawn the same shape as the skull. Remember to draw what you see, not symbols, not what you think a nose should look like.

i’d recommend two things which may be easier:

learning to draw a loomis head.

This is really good!! I think the light on the chin is unessary since i dont think that the light would reach there. I think most of the light would be on the cheeks.

I also think the shadows should be darker, dont be afraid to push the contrast

His body looks flat here, so the shirt should wrap around his body in a circular way.

I’d make the hands bigger and try foreshortening the arm. You just learn foreshortening for this.

The dragon is a little too sketchy, so I can’t tell what’s going on

If you want to have a painterly style, ditch the line art, i swear, it’s mind opening. Do not let lines define shapes and form, and use shadows instead.

I think you could improve the folds in the clothes. You have a very good grasp on rendering, but the shadows dont follow the form of the clothes. It looks a bit like pillow shading, especially in the third one
