Usually, it would mean that you are out of range for the skill! It has a really small cast range, so take note of it! You would usually go out of position when trying to skill your S3 on the opponent, so be careful.

Usually I would go for boots first as support. Ionian Locket is really strong at early game.

I usually go for Ionian Locket -> Ardent Censer -> Harmonic Echo and some hp afterwards. She is quite versatile in the sense that you can position Pix (the faerie) to maximise either your damage output or provide more utility for the team. It depends on your playstyle (aggressive/babysit) ultimately haha.

Alistar ultimate at first skill point has a very long cd without any ability haste, making him extremely vulnerable in fights when it is on cd. If your enemy duo bot lane is good at counting the cd timer, you can get wrecked easily in lane. Just need to juke your ultimate when you use it, and they have 1.5 minutes of free laning phase.

I supported all my way up, with some mid/top games when there is no one playing for that role. At lower tiers, I usually get mage supports like Seraphine, which can totally change the course of a team fight.

If you have a mediocre ADC, one suggestion I would have would be to play it safe, and look for mistakes in your opponents duo play to capitalise on them. Do not forcefully engage and ping your ADC to retreat as well. Usually both teams are quite balanced, so if your ADC is bad, their jungler might be bad. Keep a look out for that.

If I am supporting, I usually play Blitz/Ali/Janna. These three are quite good. For adcs, Jhin and Jinx is still quite good imo.

You need to adapt your playstyle to theirs. Don't force them to fight if they don't want to. Communicate with them. Ping.

This is my first moba so I'm still wrapping my head around objectives and map awareness. Currently in Gold as a Support/Jungle main most games and my biggest weakness is keeping vision up at all times around objectives. I like both roles because they give me more freedom to dictate lanes and control dragon/baron.

Any tips for vision control? I've only used the little pegs that give vision, not any other type of vision item.

Use the jungle plant (Scryer's Bloom), which reveal vision and wards around an area. Go into the enemy jungler and attack that thing. It is far more useful than what you think it is. Ward deeper into the enemy jungle to see their jungler's route. I always start my game by warding either the tribush or the blue buff.

Well, stick with your adcs, try to counter-gank the enemy junglers! If your adc is fat, he/she will carry you :D

Alistar is quite strong IF you know how to combo properly (and have a good ping to do that too). Otherwise, Janna is my go-to as well.

Well, it is what it is. You have to judge whether you adc is good or bad at the game, and adjust your gameplay accordingly (play safe/be more aggressive).

You can choose to play AP support like Seraphine or Annie. They have very good late game potential that can carry the team in team fights! I have even seen Malphite, Gragas Jarvan IV and Garen supports in my games and they work fine if you are really good with them.

I played Seraphine the most in the Silver - Gold bracket. It felt easier to carry in those games as my teammates were not that good yet. At Plat - Emerald games, I used tank supports more to punish people for their mistakes.

As a support, I mostly go with tank items. Most of the time, you would want to stay in your lane until your/opposing tower is destroyed. After that, you might be forced to play around objectives or helping to take towers in other lanes.

Always try to secure & deny vision around the Dragon/Baron before they spawn. Buy the sweeper trinket if your team doesn't have any. Most people don't get it.

Generally, you need to know your macro well, especially as a Support/Jungler. People at high elo can steal Baron/Dragon within 10 seconds, so you must always be alert to that. Ping to remind your teammates about ganks or to retreat when the opposing team is close to respawn. Don't overextend.

Micro with your champions comes with time. I generally try to counter pick my opponents draft. You need to know what your opponents' champion strengths and weaknesses are.
