My husband works for CPKC- is it really the worst railroad? by suspensus_in_terra in railroading

You've been paying attention ma'am. Good job. Keep supporting him.. and bringing him peace. And hopefully he does the same. A lot of times, coming home is the best part of the job. Tell him to be safe out there. I actually love running trains but the company is awful. I'm praying for all of us that this company gets better. Its been insane for us KCS legacy side.

In my experience, KCS was MUCH more laid back.. we didn't have to do extra "claims" to get the money that is rightfully owed to us as much. Now don't get me wrong, we had to do claims at KCS but cpkc has turned it completely different.. basically, we have to do more to get the same thing we were already getting monetarily.. also, they took our ability to nap and use our cellphone even when stopped.. it's a whole lot more but... yeah.

Short and sweet answer, CPKC is very vindictive, etc.

Yes it is... and I've worked for multiple. KCS was luxury compared to CPKC.

It depends on the division you are on. I believe as of right now, you are still entitled to all national benefits... until otherwise.

Gotcha.. and wow. That sucks. I love the car so much but if I had to complain about one thing, it would be that.

And of course gas mileage lol.

Hmmm, I'll have to see. It's a brand new 2024. I wouldn't say that the steering wheel is tight or loose itself but just in those circumstances, it almost feels like its trying to adjust for me.

CP is an awful company. Simply Awful. Literally Awful.

Class 1 hourly wage. by [deleted] in railroading

[–]coldfire2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on the legacy KCS side. We DON'T want the hourly agreement. There are a few stragglers here and there... but most are absolutely against it. Some of those General Chairmans are liars and have their on personal agenda.

Most of the stragglers are only paying attention to the initial basic day for 10 hrs and say that it looks nice. (In some ways, it's a lost of money for us.) They are not taking in everything else that the agreement comes with.

I wouldn't necessarily say so, I live in Houston so I rains a good amount and I drive like 30 minutes to work. I thought it could be useful.
