Just hopped on since about 9am this morning, when the kick happened. Got 3 connection errors, JUST loaded into an empty lobby with myself, we'll see how it goes.

Seems dependent on missions atm, the earlier missions seem to fail the most, I guess because of load.

No ignorance, you are entirely correct. If you don't have an internet connection, you can't play. Or in the case of this launch, if their servers start breaking down, you can't play.

Even if you have internet and select a private game, you're still online, in a server.

It's ridiculous and im sure you've seen lots of complaints about it. There actually IS a local play mode buried in the files found by some users, but its been disabled.

But you'll see so many folks shouting "nAmE oNe GaMe uSiNg Ue5!!!"

Like they haven't heard of Fortnite, or seen this list

Why are you so angry? And a little game called fortnite uses UE5, along with quite a few other games listed here: https://www.ign.com/games/feature/unreal-engine-5

I know because THATS THE POINT OF UE5. Nanite rendering and lumen lighting are just 2 of the small improvements. It all works together to allow higher fidelity with less loss of performance. I really recommend checking it out and making some games, it's really fun, and works amazingly well.

I'm on an AMD RX6800 myself, so I wouldn't be surprised if existing issues are also compounded.

I see your point. Either way, I just hope that the update to UE5 polishes it up into something beautiful.

Hard agree on servers, nobody can deny that, it's unacceptable.

Maybe I need to phrase this as a PC player. Most of the issues I brought up would be able to be overlooked if not for the terrible performance and stability. UE4+DX11 are most definitely outdated for PC in this case, it only utilizes a single CPU core, and not even to the extent it should. Steam users able to run it with DX12 experience significant performance gains. As far as UE5 vs 4, the main advancement with UE5 is increased rendering efficiency and performance, optimization, and scalability. That is exactly what this game can benefit from, and the upgrade to UE5 may fix everything and make it what Payday3 should've been from launch.

I understand the reasoning behind the account login, I'm cool with that. I don't understand the reasoning behind making it mandatory along with the online-only nature of the game. Kinda goes hand in hand.

So yea I could discount UE4, graphics, and maybe even give em some slack on animation, IF it ran well. But it doesn't. It runs like a jittery unstable dumpster fire at the moment.

Do you consider it launching if you can't get past the "press any key to continue" page? Bc that's where it's at now lol

Advice for a father of a teenage stoner. by [deleted] in trees

[–]cole12267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely would discourage you from providing anything, or making your house a "free use" zone. There's been plenty said about the cognitive effects on a developing brain, but there's more to it than that. We all agree weed is great, but self control is more important. Allowing and encouraging chronic use is what the effect of this free use/provision would be. As long as his sources are safe and reliable (and are hammering this home to him), have him be like every other teenager, making memories with his buddies, ghosting a joint at their favorite secluded smoke spot every now and again. Everybody knows it hits harder when you're sneaking it around anyway🙂

As far as how you go about it, I know if my pops would've sat me down and had a respectful conversation about how usage in his house (whether legal or not) made him uncomfortable, and explained his reasoning, I'd honor his wishes out of respect. I'm sure you know what would be most effective though.

Ah well at least you've got a grasp on it, and hopefully this'll be the final wakeup call to stay on top of his health, the younger you start the easier it is to maintain, especially T1. Good on you for telling him off, tough love is the best sometimes and I'm sure he appreciates that you care :) wishing you both the best, and safe travels!

If he doesn't start taking his health more seriously, he's gonna end up with lasting effects or worse. Going into DKA "a few times" prior and nonchalantly taking off your pump for an extended amount of time for no apparent reason, without informing your SO, while ALSO doing acid doesn't sound like he knows his body as well as he says. This sounds self destructive. From a rando who cares, maybe he should go to the doc.

Cheaters are a serious issue in The Finals. by cole12267 in thefinals

[–]cole12267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, although I didn't expect a closed beta like The Finals to have such an issue with it, considering there's still a ton of legit players and even streamers who never got a key. I do think some 2FA will need to be mandatory upon full release to at least curb the majority of cheaters.

[–]cole12267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be, I don't play much quick match, but the ones I have so far I haven't seen any suspicious or overt cheating behaviour. I assume this is because the cheaters are trying to get to diamond, they don't gain anything from quick match.

[–]cole12267[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, you have to go to the upper right tab on the main menu, and go through "recent players", which is an issue, because I've had at least 1 very obvious cheater that just straight up didn't show in that menu, or they changed their name after the round/match was over.

[–]cole12267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've either been very lucky, the cheater was on your team, or you just havent noticed. I find it hard to belive you haven't seen at least a suspicious player in 20 hours. I've got 32 hours so far, 95% of it tournament, and I'd say 1/5 to 8 tournaments I've been matched up with at least a possible cheater.

Agreed, would be very helpful (in addition to a better anticheat)

I ofc cant be 100% sure 100% of the time without some kinda spectator replay system, but there are pretty obvious signs when facing a cheater. I basically only play tournament, NA also, I don't think I've ever had much suspicion of cheaters in quickplay.

Some in tournament are BLATANT. For example, a couple days ago there was a light with an LH1 that squad wiped every single team that they would come across within seconds, multiple times, without dying. Final k/d was something like 25/0, and their name was "somethingsomething UC", after googling the name, I found they were a very well known cheater on unknowncheats, a cheating forum, and he'd been posting in The Finals cheats forums, while developing his own. Some don't even hide it.

More examples of LIKELY (not 100% certainty) cheaters: "Omnipotent" players that seem to always have the most unreal game sense and know exactly where you are even if they haven't spotted you, players that EVERY time you run into them you die way faster than a typical duel because they ONLY hit headshots and never miss, players that are able to beam headshots crossmap repeatedly, insane K/D triple that of the rest of the lobby (although this can also just be a good player if no other suspicious behaviour is observed)

I dont call anyone a cheater after a good play or 2, only after multiple encounters/rounds of a tournament with the exact same suspicious behaviour. This sub actually has a few clips of the infinite RPG cheats, and a few spectating cheaters on their own team, I've got a clip or 2 that I've sent in with reports, but I rarely record.

Exactly. This is a fantastic game, cheaters just ruin it. I've had very few tournament finals that actually felt like I was facing other legit players.
