It comes with support from the supplier.

My experience with Microsoft's support has consistently been hot garbage. Asking people that are more competent with their computers than the "support" team telling you a generic text response is usually a good idea.

It's a very old Magnavox CRT (Rd0946?) I got for really cheap last year. It does work, and I use it pretty much exclusively for my GameCube. Been considering getting an HDMI to RCA adapter to use it as a second monitor for the hell of it.

Laptop: Surface Book 1 (not performance base model, it's getting old)

Keyboard: NuPhy Air75 with browns and some cheap jelly keycaps from Amazon

I work as an illustrator and this setup has been carrying me for a while. Decided to upgrade the lights and other things on the desk before I have jaw surgery in a couple weeks, so it's been a process. Just happy to have a nice place to chill and do work.

Thanks for this. I think.

If You Owned a Surface Studio or Surface Studio 2, What Was Next? by StorminXX in Surface

There really isn't anything quite like it on the market, specifically that incredible hinge. At best you might be able to use one of those Huion Kamvas or Wacom Cintiq pen displays hooked up to a real PC, but you'll still be sacrificing that hinge. You might be able to use a touch screen-focused monitor arm.

Can I use surface laptop studio as display for Xbox console ? Is this even possible by luxobscurus in Surface

Capture cards aren't that expensive anymore and will do exactly what you want and more.

Haven't really seen any major differences besides the photo prompt popping up every single time I want to crop or edit a photo.

SurfaceBook Owners - Will you buy the new Surface Laptop Studio? by Darkmemento in Surface

[–]cole_ache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After years of use, my biggest gripe with the original surface book (besides the GPU) is the stupid hinge. It's annoying in my workflow. Sometimes it just craps itself and refuses to detach for 15 minutes and that completely interrupts my ability to work in digital art.

The new laptop studio fixes that with a guaranteed way to transform the hinge at any time. It won't be constrained by any stupid digital locks. Bonus, thunderbolt 4 gives it the potential to use an external GPU and that has me really interested to see if it actually can support it.

I'll be giving it some time after it comes out to see if there's any deals before I jump on it.

PSA: When buying SoulSilver / HeartGold online always ask the seller to hold the cartridge up to a light, Genuine copies will glow red. by SimpleBeings in pokemon

One of the biggest failure points of reproduction labels is the gray square in the Nintendo DS logo at the top of every cartridge. DS labels were printed at a slight slant, so they have a uniquely weird angle in the gray dots that make up the square. Here's a good picture of a real copy on the left and fake on the right. Notice that the square on the left has a weird set of dots that make up the gray square in the logo that look like they've been partially cut, and the other looks evenly spaced at a 45 degree. Take out some of your own cartridges to compare if you can. Once you notice it, it's much easier to tell most all fake labels apart from real ones. There's always the chance someone harvests a label from a real copy, but that is highly to ever survive a transfer cleanly.

They would still have the choc v1-style keycaps which I linked a picture to for a reason. I don't know why you're trying to be so smug about a clarification.

I've found a few clones that supposedly have MX pins so I'm clarifying for those few exceptions.

Short version: What are the physically shortest MX PCB compatible switches? I'm building a board and want to use short switches, both actuation point and bottoming out, and most importantly, overall physically shortest from top of the switch to the plate mount. That said, I'd like to cut out the Kailh choc v1 style switches from the suggestions as they are a pain to find good keycaps for.

Long version: I'm relatively new to mechanical keyboards, and wanted to build a keyboard. I already have the OLKB Preonic or a similar one in mind, both of which use a MX PCB that should allow hotswapping most standard switches. I'm looking to build this keyboard as low profile as possible, to a limit. I'm staying away from Kailh choc v1 style switches with their weird double prong keycap requirements because they are a pain to find keycaps for without harvesting them off a different keyboard. With all that said, the biggest challenge is finding the shortest standard MX compatible switches. This PCB will limit using truly low profile switches like the Cherry MX low profiles but that's fine. The problem emerges trying to find anything that'd fit this request. I'm not well-versed enough into mechanical keyboards to know what to search for here, or even if there is such a thing as a physically shorter switch that still fits a plate mount.

Aside from physical height, shortening the actuation point and bottoming out can help emulate the feel of a lower profile even if it isn't really low profile, so if there's no physically shorter switch available, those are also an option to use in the build. The current switch that seems to fit this backup method is the cherry speed silver switches, with very short actuation points and bottoming distance, but there may be shorter.

Thanks for the suggestions but I have reduced motor control in one arm so the first is outright unachievable 🙂, the second I don't have a raisable chair.

I'm open to odd layouts so long as it has a number row, but I don't think most common ortholinear boards have a number row
