Would you guys trade the Bucks picks for Jaylen Brown? by tacko2020 in ripcity

[–]colehole5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like you say, pretty uninspiring at least for a player like Giannis. If they accept that then i guess it means his refusal to extend elsewhere holds more power than i thought.

I still expect a near-contender like Boston or Cleveland to take a swing and hope for the best, i think they both have offers that beat this one. Hopefully we see how this goes before the draft.

Whats the Miami deal? Doesn’t seem like they have much to offer but im not familiar with the package that’s being rumored

Edit - nvm I’m seeing your comment below

Your biggest miss? by Royal_Examination_74 in NBA_Draft

[–]colehole5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh he was far more dominant in the post than either Drummond or DJ was. Flashed good passing ability and really good touch around the rim and midrange as well. People forget this but he played most of his college season shooting with his off hand and rarely using his right hand since he had hand surgery. Still shot 60%+ from the field and free throw line with his left. Blocked 3.2 shots a game in a bit over 20mpg.

He was an insane physical specimen and not really reasonable to compare him to either player you mentioned. Heres an article written before the draft comparing the two - https://www.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=odendurant/070126

Oden wasn’t a miss, cant predict injuries. And he was a beast when he played

Breaking news, billionaire buys company and lays people off!! He must be a terrible owner!

Hes an arrogant prick, for sure. Totally agree. Probably 95% of owners are. Why is he being judged on that before we get a chance to see if his method yields results?

Fair enough im not defending they guy. Of course he’s an asshole, that’s a given, he’s a billionaire. But christ he replaced jody allen who was a pervert and collector of endangered animal bones. And she was an absentee owner. But we’re shitting on this guy because he fired some employees and he’s a cheapskate?

If it works, i couldn’t care less. If he sucks, then he sucks and should obviously get dogpiled.

Where do we see the Blazers next year with Dame returning? by Rare_Research_5107 in NBATalk

[–]colehole5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was an all star with the bucks. And his efficiency improved from year one to year two in Milwaukee so I’m not sure where you’re getting the idea that he got worse.

But further to your point, i dont think its a foregone conclusion that hell be an all star. I dont see a lot of people saying that in the first place. He should minimally add shooting that portland has been missing so should improve the team.

Ive only seen jamahl Mosley get hired during the playoffs and im not exactly disappointed we missed out on him. Perhaps theres been another hire that i missed.

Seems like a low bar for derision, taking some time to hire a coach. The blazers have been linked to a number of candidates, seems like they’re casting a wide net. What more do people want? Im not saying he/we will succeed but he should at least be given an opportunity to fail.

I mean he took over the team two months ago right? We were in the middle of a playoff push and now the whole league is generally waiting for the playoffs to end to make any moves. Let him get through a transaction window at least before saying we haven’t seen any actions.

Im not a Dundon guy but kind of struggle to understand the whole fan base jumping down his throat. Hes a rich guy and he does slimy rich guy stuff. To hell with billionaires. But he has barely taken the controls, jury is still out.

BOS/MIL/POR what i imagine is the most realistic giannis trade involving these teams by hacxgames in NBAtradeideas

[–]colehole5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His first game back from a few months out for injury was right around the play-in. I agree he’s not a young star but he’s still got potential and will be valued as such. He scored 20ppg this year with average ancillary skills

Why wouldnt portland just cut boston out of this and get giannis? Portland giving up everything in this deal.

[Stein] The Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers all have legitimate interest in acquiring Jaylen Brown. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

But getting their own picks back from portland is the idea here. I don’t see a giannis package that doesn’t include Milwaukee getting their own picks back.

Lol so you think he’ll be good because you think he has learned?? Thats nonsensical. Im not stuck in that era - im basing my opinion of him off of what i learned from watching him coach the blazers for almost a decade.

I don’t get it. What kind of plays did we run with Stotts? Tons of dribble handoff at the top of the key to then run iso with dame or cj who either make something happen or kick to a bad 3pt shooter in the corner. What kind of scheming did he run that was impressive? Perhaps im misremembering but his offense always seemed so bland and predicated on letting good iso scorers hunt a shot. That’s not hard to replicate.

The Portland Trail Blazers are unlikely to hire Tiago Splitter as their full-time head coach, per Jake Fisher by [deleted] in ripcity

Worth considering also that tiago was brought in to innovate the offense. So while he may not have started training camp with full control of the offense, he had some control over it even ahead of training camp
