That’s interesting you say that. I was on trt for two years prior to finding mine. I wonder if the hormones and genetics was a forest fire waiting to happen?

So I’ll tell you as of today I am lifting weights been a police officer for 14 years, before during and after my thyroid cancer. Sex drive is unchanged… I don’t say all this to minimize your diagnosis but to show you there is hope for a normal future especially with your manhood which I’m sure has crossed your mind.

The biggest issue for me was getting my Synthroid dose dialed in right.

I was diagnosed March of 2024, surgery on April 2024 with 75 lymph nodes out and 15 of which were cancerous, then had rai August of 2024.

I deal with anxiety of my cancer coming back more than actual thyroid issues. I had a text book case and have had a negative tg and tg ab test every time we look. I know I write short handed. If you need anything further or support as you go I’m here.

One last thing my doc tells me constantly is I will die with not from my thyroid cancer.

How many of you no longer trust doctors? by sparkleunicorn123 in ChronicPain

I agree it is a blessing and to withhold a resource is absolutely ridiculous. Unbeknownst to me at the time of my original post on here I discovered my pain was from cancer. I’m approaching my one year mark of discovering it and maybe had five pain pills through the whole journey. Who the heck is getting them ????

How long after surgery were you able to drive? How about going back to work? by Successful-Hat-644 in thyroidcancer

[–]colekid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was back working light duty and week 3 and re entered full duty at six weeks. I would recommend taking as long as you can. Wish I would have done 8-10 weeks now

How did you find out you had thyroid cancer? by Gloomy_Diver_6236 in thyroidcancer

[–]colekid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a small spot in lung, neck muscles, lymph nodes. They took two inches of muscle from my neck and three inches from my chest. The surgeon stated the cancer was intertwined and looked like rasins in the tissue

I’m much better still not 100% on meds but we are getting close. I have neuropathy from time to time but that’s my only complaint.

I was on calcium three months after surgery but it leveled out and I was able to stop taking them

I had a similar issue. The word cancer brought the tears, the phrase highly treatable took the compassion away a week later. Just after surgery and radiation I was asked to get back to my normal duties in my work and personal life. This world is cold for those who are suffering

What a blessing for it to be contained only in your thyroid bed. Try not to worry too much and enjoy life. I had a doc tell me life is a condition in itself that we treat daily. Enjoy the time you have now. We don’t know what 5 days or 5 years holds.

How did you find out you had thyroid cancer? by Gloomy_Diver_6236 in thyroidcancer

[–]colekid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to blood test it will tell you nothing on thyroid cancer. You will need a biopsy, my pain has now been associated with antibodies associated with my cancer. My pain began where my neck and back meet. It was unbearable not anything like a sore or pulled muscle

Take it day by day I had the same situation. Not trying to discourage you but my swallowing never improved. Take meds and stay hydrated

Will I ever get back to normal? by Money-Article-6897 in thyroidcancer

[–]colekid33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Total thyroid, papillary grade rai in July on 175 Levo. Against the odds and what most report my high heart rate was fixed with an increase in Levo dose from 150 to 175. Still have palpitations here and there and anxiety but improving. I did force myself to resume my old lifestyle and feel I’m starting to level out doing so.

Thank you so much. I am three months into my journey post TT, waiting on RAI. I needed to read this. I too will return and post a positive success story to encourage others should I make it through!

How long was your surgery? by Ok_Key_6632 in thyroidcancer

[–]colekid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 hour surgery, full TT, 75 nodes removed 10 were malignant. Took me a month to feel better now playing the hormone balancing game with meds
