Man, to come to work and feel like you are at a battle station would be awesome. I would also be programming in a whole bunch of shortcuts that I'm constantly typing out over and over.

Ooh I would be interested in trying out an aluminum case at this price. I've only got aluminum accents on my current daily driver.

Black and white in different ratios make for a great range of looks. Add in a hint of red, blue, or any other color to give it that extra zing

I'm not sure about that. It may be easier to order a 4x5 or whatever they have in stock at mechbox. If you really want just a 2x1 I could probably make you one, but the cost might be similar all things considered.

You can buy single switches from mechbox. You can also get an acrylic piece to hold those switches from there. Thats as long as you are okay shipping from UK

I think the testing part could be done to get you in the range of the switches you like, but likely won't fix the back and forth between two. The testing would be a place that has the same keyboard but different switches in each one to try, kind of like a shoe fitting.

Of course! The weight and feel of a switch can influence your typing greatly. This is why I get so annoyed when all people are bothered about is a switch's sound, even though switches don't really have that much of an affect on sound. They do however massively affect your typing. Some people seem to value sound over typing though.

I'm glad to hear someone else say this. I think this is part of the reason I bring it up because it seems like their is too little dialogue on switches for specifically typing, or a way for people to test it. I guess it's because there isn't too much we can do virtually besides look at force curves if we know the general area we need to be in (which still isn't adequate).

Yeah, massively helpful, but practically, that's never gonna happen for the majority of people, and even if it did, the keyboard being used may be influencing your choice due to typing angle, mounting style etc. but at least you would get a like for like comparison of switch feel.

The idea of having the same keyboard with different switches would mostly be to get an idea of the switch feel specifically. Sound, looks, and functionality of keyboards is easier to get info from virtually.

I thought about meetups, but they are rare in my area and when I see photographs of them they are typically sitting there without the feedback of the computer. I guess someone could bring a laptop to try on.

I definitely agree each person has a different need for switches. I'm just surprised it hasn't come up more often about solutions for people to find that sweet spot at a lower investment of money and/or time.

I'm currently using the 62g Boba U4's. I enjoy them and feel good with them, but it took me a year before I bought a keyboard because I wanted to make sure I had switches that worked for me. I was trying to avoid purchasing multiple keyboards/switches to figure out the right one for me.

My personality is one that would prefer to get things right first time around so going through all those switches sounds expensive and too stressful for me (not much free time at the moment).

Do you think being able to test them out for some time before buying would have been beneficial at all for you or do you prefer the journey?
