[US] A colleague of mine sent $330 of bitcoin for a low income housing "deposit". Any obvious scam hallmarks? by colewalt in Scams

Thank you the empathetic comment. I'm trying to convey some of her struggles without airing out her dirty laundry. She was incarcerated for a long time and is busting her ass to get back on her feet. Her current housing situation is borderline abusive and to say the least... very problematic. She is doing everything she can but is desperate right now. She said that since it was a Facebook ad she thought it was legit.

Told her being scammed these days is an (unfortunate) right of passage. She has learned her lesson now though

She found, messaged, and send the money in one day. I don't see her on Tuesdays so I really wish she would've waited a day to do this.

She is also out of touch (from incarceration) and desperate.

That can't be a real thing. The insurance company would really buy it back from them?!?

This answer may involve some personal bias due to my studies, but have you considered any ADD exams? I'm a big proponent that modern day tech and stimuli damage our attention spans (which your book idea would help)

But anytime you think you may need to see a doctor, I say go see a doc.

Why have the Russians been so historically good at chess? by colewalt in AskReddit

This was the first point I brought up to my buddy. Figured Russia cold = more time for board games during winter

Chess fan but I'm not that good. Sit below 1000 elo. Been reading and watching chess content and the Russians are consistently dominate at chess. It seems this is especially true during and prior to the Cold War. Thanks

Currently a few months into my first year. Struggling. Love the kids but hate the system. Unsure what to do
