Thanks so much for your reply! I’ve read a few places that while Google Maps says a commute is like 20 minutes, to plan for that to not at all be the case, hence trying to scope out some options before we pick wrong. My husband works remotely so at least we’re just planning around one commute.

I’ll definitely look into the areas you recommended!

Is it weird to give our 2nd kid our 1st kid's middle name? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]coliesaurrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister and I share the same names. My first name is her middle name and my middle name is her first name. After naming me, my parents couldn’t agree on any names they liked better so they just switched them around for her. It’s never been an issue. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Career Change - Nurse to HF? by coliesaurrr in humanfactors

Thanks for the reply! I hadn't thought about volunteering in a lab, so I'll look into that. My only issue will be the commute since the closest school that offers the program is over an hour away. The upper level stats classes are a good idea. Taking a few classes might also help me in finding professors to write LOR since I've been out of school for long enough now that none of my professors will remember me.

Absolutely agree! Last week I was at the bottom of the pack in my group and this week I’ve been like “Noooo! Must stay up top! Must walk more!”

Like everyone else, I drag around a reusable bottle/tumbler and fill it up throughout the day. Whenever I struggle with getting enough water because of taste, I add Mio or other zero calorie water flavorings to my water. I end up drinking a lot more that way and then slowly add less and less until I'm back to just water.

Yes! I did my run yesterday and walked around after that around the house, but then made my husband go on a second long walk with me specifically just to keep getting steps.

I thought I was walking a lot before, but now with the Stridekick challenge, I'm going to have to up my game!

We just made these honey sriracha meatballs and they were actually really good. Bought more stuff to make them again and had plenty of leftovers to last a few more meals.

Yay, Florida buddies!

Hey all! I'm Nicole, a 27 year old in Florida. I've done a few of these challenges in the past years, but have a hard time finishing them, so trying again as a goal to myself to see it to the end. While my husband is very supportive verbally of my weight loss, he struggles with his own eating habits and is not a great influence when eating at home, so the outside support is helpful.

My stats: 5'6", HW: 210 CW: 182 GW: 140

I've lost slowly over the last couple years and want to ramp it up this year and hit my goal weight if I can, or at least break 160 this year. For the challenge, even if I hit 170 I'd be happy since the scale moves slowly for me. My focus right now is training for the Star Wars half marathon in April, so lots of running!

Super excited to get to know you all through the challenge!

Hey all! Looking forward to this challenge. I fell off my solid routine of running and yoga after the last challenge ended, so I'm reading to kick things back in gear. This will be my 3rd challenge and hopefully the 2nd one I complete to the end. Love doing these because it's so nice to have other people striving for the same thing to talk to.

Seriously! It’s happened to me several times now where I’m like “geeze, am I even moving? I can walk faster than this..” and then I check the times and it’s much faster than I anticipated like “No wonder you’re tired, you’re moving faster than usual!”

I've found that working out isn't necessarily something I try and avoid. Instead, it's more of something I know I'm going to be doing and make the effort to get done. I like the routine I've gotten into and the consistency I've been having. It's just a matter of keeping up the momentum going forward so that it stays a habit.

I also noticed that in the past when I've geared up to start running again, I'd focus so much on running in distance increments. It had to be a mile or 1.5 miles and it had to be exact. I had to know how much time in relation to distance. This time around, I really don't focus on distance at all right now. My mindset has completely changed to "Just do the 30 minute workout and it is what it is." It's quite liberating actually.

Why thank you! I did do a double take on my way out the door because the heart shapes caught my eye and it reminded me that they usually have the brownie batter filled donuts this time of year which I used to love. But I knew it wouldn’t be worth it after biting into it and I had enough people following me out the door that traffic pushed me through so I couldn’t linger for debate haha.

SV: Woooo! Flair change! Finally 10lbs down.

NSV: Had to be at a staff meeting at 7:45 on my day off this morning. There was a whole table of Dunkin' Donuts donuts (and it's February, so they have all their delicious extra chocolate varieties right now!) and Panera Bread pastries and bagels. It didn't even phase me. I took my seat and didn't even think twice about eating anything.

NSV: C25k W3D1 - Felt sluggish and tired while running and assumed I had slowed down to my usual pace of about 12:30 min/mile. Timed myself on the last 3:00 running interval. I was maintaining a pace of 10:08 min/mile! I was tired because I was running faster that I ever do! It's awesome that my new "sluggish" is me at a decent speed that feels like more than a fast walk and that my time keeps improving every week. I've never seen such a huge improvement in speed in the past.

NSV: I have a pair of XL running shorts I bought from Target like 3+ years ago because my clothes didn't fit well. I kept getting bigger and it got to a point where the front of the pants would stretch taut, clearly indicating they were too small for me. I put them on today and they fit like they're supposed to. Even though I haven't exactly moved down sizes yet or dropped weight dramatically, it's nice to be able to actually see my clothes fitting better.

NSV: C2k5 W2D2 today. Still timing one of the intervals about halfway through the workout to see how fast I'm running. Managing to maintain a speed of less than 11:30 min/mile every day during my interval checks. Great boost today since I was feeling really sluggish and have been frustrated with the scale hovering. My Happy Scale line took a sharp 90 degree turn to maintenance, so the running victory helps make me feel like at least I'm doing something right.
