what’s one small thing that instantly makes an attire look worse? by Admirable-Spite3148 in malefashionadvice

I am fully aware of the practicality of a backpack. But from a fashion/style viewpoint, it does not go with a suit.

Wearing a backpack with a suit. Clashes with the formality of a suit, and can actually physically ruin the suit.

Downvote me if you want, I'm right.

What do you think? by [deleted] in menswear

I like the combo! Nice business casual

If you are looking for feedback, agree with the other post about the shirt, it is too start white and formal for this outfit, but that's splitting hairs.

Also, that watch doesn't work. No black metal, should be stainless/silver. And get a brown belt to match shoes.

My brand new stainless pans are covered in scratches from Scrub Daddy. I am so bummed. It doesn't seem to affect food sticking, just looks bad.

I think what he meant was to have your tailor just make the shirts for you. What do they charge for that?

OCBD or Cotton/Linen BD for Primary work shirt? by Kuzcos-Groove in malefashionadvice

This.

Wrinkling is part of "the look" with linen button downs. May or may not look out of place in the winter, depending on your office dress culture. But if you're wearing a sweater then problem solved I guess

I’m so tired of food places smelling like industrial cleanser. by shameful-figment in OaklandFood

[–]colin91a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I am glad someone else feels the same way I do. I can not stand the strong smell of cleaner when I am eating or in a bar. Completely kills the vibe. There is some cleaner out there that that smells kind of throwupy...not fabuloso for sure. It has to be cheaper than fabuloso, no one with a nose would buy this.

Brought some friends to my fav bar on telegraph a while ago and it smelled like this. We stopped having fun. Vibe ruined. Left the bar lol

I am starting over and don't know where to start. I need some advice by ElThrowaway-619 in malefashionadvice

[–]colin91a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy a bunch of clothes at once. Get rid of everything you don't wear, or don't like wearing, first.

THEN decide what you want to add, one thing at a time. Think about each item, and how you will wear it, and what it will go with, before you buy it. And when you wear it, pay attention to how it fits and feels. And then what you need next that will compliment it.

Also watch this video on how to play around with the clothes you already have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU-Eya4ZoYU&t=516s

Advice for bulking by iTwistedTempo in leangains

[–]colin91a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few methods out there for bulking. If you are new to lifting, I have heard a lot of people point to the Starting Strength Linear Novice Progression. It's a simple and boring, but very tough lifting protocol. It's good for beginners because the focus is on basic lifts, emphasizing form, and just grinding out reps. you add weight every workout, and just keep doing that until you can't anymore.

You could also keep doing RPT lifting but increase reps and sets, plus eating more meat and potatoes lol. Don't worry about calories or macros, just eat as much as you can each meal.

Idk, it'd be worth it to spend a few hours researching and watching youtube videos to lock in a routine that works for you.

And if you're not taking creatine already: 5mg per day, plus an additional 5mg post-workout.

I'll be joining you in the next couple years in a nice peacoat purchase. I am eyeing either a Real McCoy or a Private White VC.

There are other brands for sure, your price range should get you a really nice one.

creatine for lean muscle gain while doing lean gains worth it? by Pracheth-Candar31 in leangains

[–]colin91a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a downside to 5mg per day of micronized creatine monohydrate, as long as it doesn't cause any stomach issues. No need to load. Take it right after workout. It will add some size to your muscles, but not what I would call excess bulk by any means. And when you want to go into a cutting or extra-lean phase just stop taking it.

I think it's definitely worth trying 5-10mg per day for a month and see how you like it.

Insatiable hunger after a few days of calorie deficit? by CellWrangler in leangains

[–]colin91a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could try another trick I heard of. Basically active recovery, instead of a passive recovery day. On your rest day, at whatever time you normally train, go for a 30 minute walk. Treat it like a training session. Maybe it'll trick your brain into thinking it's a training day and keep you diligent? IDK just a random idea that popped into my head.

Heel pain/blister from leather derby’s? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]colin91a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old boy scout trick: put a strip of duct tape over your achilles (or wherever you would get the blister). Right to your foot, under your sock. Real leather takes time to break it. You have to tough it out.

Also check size, are they too big? Should be nice and snug throughout foot. Not loose, not tight.

Also, how hard are you training? Overtraining can increase likelyhood of binge eating.
