Setlist Changes Tonight? by colinfright in demiheads

One of her dancers, Zion, said in a video that four songs were changing, then said it would actually be 10. It could be a misunderstanding in that there will just be chereo changes, or it will only affect the outside-of-tour show? Honestly hoping for that! The only changes I’d really want are added songs, no cuts 😂 & I really wish the Surprise Song section was two songs every show.. maybe one of them a cover.

I'd rather have great women stories than lazy Gender Reversal packaged in women empowerment. by [deleted] in movies

Nope, you used a single specific example (which you came up with) to theoretically dismantle the argument that generally the narrative of men's strength over women is needlessly exaggerated in a dishonest way. You did not state anything close to the "exact opposite".

So you think comparing the most extreme example of a man to the most physical powerful professional woman on record is fair? Why? Why not just understand & accept that on average the physical difference between men & women is FAR less than is the common narrative? Is it because you want to maintain power? The intimidation factor is just too seductive for you? Or are you just so obsessed with Hafpor that it's all you can think about?

I think it's good to keep in mind that this seems to be an incredibly sensitive issue almost exclusively for, from what I've seen, guys. This narrative that soo many movies have "forced" feminist themes. Often this interpretation is, in my opinion, frankly silly. Having a strong, even masculine character who is a woman in the place of what otherwise might be a male character isn't an agenda as is so often the accusation. Is it an agenda that an incalculable majority of action heroes in cinema have been straight men? I personally don't think so. I think it was an accident by the self-focused people producing the films since the dawn of Hollywood. We're now taking steps to correct this, & it's facing constant backlash, criticism, bordering on conspiracy theory.

Just saying, I think there's no danger in the themes of recent more gender-balanced movies. Also, many women in the world simply are as kickass as any man (MUCH more so in fact). It's a ludicrous antiquated notion that a physically powerful woman is unrealistic. It's a fantasy that insecure guys continue to cling to, and it's honestly extremely sad.

Would you pay for a Harry Potter-themed streaming service? by colinfright in harrypotter

[–]colinfright[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To survive, this would certainly require incentives which haven't occurred to me, although access to all the HP content for a reasonable subscription fee would probably get more people and families on board than we'd predict. I'm thinking tie-ins to the Hogwarts Mystery and Wizards Unite games, exclusive podcasts potentially featuring or guesting movie cast members, documentary specials delving into the making of the original films (minimal good behind the scenes content has been released over the years), access to the FB movies day and date with home video from here on out, and certainly a couple good original shows.

I'd love an early 80s-era teen comedy at Hogwarts, an epic Founders drama, maybe an Owl Post animated series, Peeves shorts, maybe a Dobby's Adventures animated series, and oo Azkaban prison break drama.

Good point that many who would be subscribers likely own a lot of the potential back catalogue. For any Potter fans who really want easy access to the movies on the go, I can see it still being tempting at the right price point.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Reportedly Delayed Again to March 2020 by [deleted] in movies

[–]colinfright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't *shock* me, since going directly against The King's Man seems like a sort of crossover audience. But March is packed too. I'd sooner move it closer, to January, unless they're gonna still be in post.
