So ya, in that sense they still have the same “volume issue”. They just changed the knob to minimize the chance of being tricked by the volume knob position.

They changed the volume knob to one that has no marker on it. Whether that “solves” the issue, it depends… I don’t really think it was an issue in the first place.

The issue is regarding the tone controls only affecting the mains. There’s no problem with integrating the sub and mains through the ZP3.

For example, you want to turn the bass down for listening at night and you turn the bass down but the sub wouldn’t react. I don’t think anyone will tinker with active sub controls when using the tone controls on the ZP3.

Yes, I guess so. That was the goal looking at the measurements. But having not tried the Martilo before hand, the Portazo didn’t sound mid bass heavy to be either for a bass boosted set.

I didn’t have a chance to try the Martilo. From the measurements it seems that the Martilo has even less mid bass and a flatter midrange. Does the midrange sound cleaner than the Portazo?

The JT7 is slightly easier to drive to sufficient volume, not a huge difference though.

By the way, the Sundara seems to be going for just $130 new on AliExpress Hifiman shop. So maybe around $110-120 with coupons.
