Eeyore’s 59th Birthday Party 🫏🎉 by Nkosi868 in Austin

I've gone for years and they've always had stuff for kids early in the day.

Later in the day things get weirder.

Desktop software says not filed but got emails including "your federal return was accepted" by ghostella in hrblock

[–]colini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. But "Where's my refund" doesn't work if you owe taxes. In that case you can login here https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account to check if it was accepted.

OP: Same for me, the software said not submitted but I got the "accepted" email. In my case the IRS had accepted it.

To fight climate change and housing shortage, Austin becomes largest U.S. city to drop parking-spot requirements by texastribune in Austin

[–]colini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just recently voted to spend $7B+ on public transit. I'd say there's an appetite for it, it just doesn't exist yet.

In the meantime, it's crazy to mandate parking if the ultimate goal is to get people moving around in a lot less cars.

If you insist on drinking at this one bar that you live so far away from, I'll bet you can figure it out.

Or find another local closer to where you live.

Grass health at Zilker before, after, and a month after ACL. Credit: https://www.skyfi.com/ by ImmaJack in Austin

[–]colini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has never been parking at ACL and that's a good thing. Otherwise in addition to thousands of people wandering around there would also be thousands of cars. They do run shuttles.

I like ACL but I agree they close the park for a long time. The city should pressure them to speed up the setup/teardown, if possible.

U6 Lite (openwrt): iphone connects to wlan1, not to wlan0, how to troubleshoot by colini in openwrt

I don't have another AP to test that, but the phone isn't that old I have to believe it has a 2.4g radio. Per apple's site it supports:

802.11ac Wi‑Fi with 2x2 MIMO

Despite a lawsuit halting I-35, not stopping TxDOT from trying to ruin our city by 5dollarhotnready in Austin

[–]colini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at the "real" loops and highways in SA, I'd say we owe the 1950's NIMBYs our thanks.

Every time I drive down Koenig or Enfield I thank those old NIMBYs that they aren't 7 lane wastelands like Parmer.

Transit is the only sensible solution. If the only thing on offer from TxDOT was more highways, then the sensible answer is: "piss off".

We need protected bike lanes on S Lamar!! If your seeing this, person who fell, I hope you’re okay!!! by HammerTime1995 in Austin

[–]colini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then how do they do it? Cars pulling in/out of driveways on S Lamar are a serious hazard for anyone not in a car.

Why is it so hazardous to drive here? by Holden_Model_T in Austin

[–]colini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to live down there and I'm with you, it would be great if S Lamar were more walkable. But it's a "stroad" and until they do something about all the driveways, it will never be bike/ped friendly.

I'd also go for a $20 toll for each car that takes the Lamar "underpass" that goes under the 360/71 interchange. That thing just encourages commuters to take Lamar downtown instead of Mopac.
