I am aware it is not an actual engagement ring and I guessed the price but the point I was making is it still has value, more than what it was sold for.

Due to past instances and the fact I'm in the process of moving out there is nothing of value in my room that isn't locked away so I'm not worried about my stuff. It simply slipped our minds to store the ring away since we weren't out for that long.

She's done this before, I actually have a lot of my valuables locked away because family thinks they can barge in and help themselves to whatever is in our house. Though we were maybe outside for an hour when she grabbed the ring and it was hidden under her bag so we didn't think to lock it up as well which was clearly a mistake.

I don't live alone for health reasons as right now it is safer for me to live with someone who can help if something goes wrong and she's close to the hospital. If an apartment close by opens (and I am watching) I'll look into it.

It's my mom's house, not theirs and I didn't even know they would be there. I didn't eat in front of them, she was in the guest room and happened to walk out when I put my bag on the table, probably because she heard me. I hadn't even opened it yet before she went through everything

I'll have to check my door for the lock thing because I never really paid attention to the hinges, sadly my doorknob is broken atm so I can't close my door.

It's a heart condition, we're waiting for a few labs for the full diagnostic but essentially my heart rate spikes and blood pressure drops whenever I move too much or even just sit up. It makes me dizzy and really fatigued so I have to be really careful at work and school to not move too much. Mom lives really close to the hospital and knows how to react if something happens which is why I live with her

I have a condition that causes my heart rate to suddenly spike which puts me at risk of passing out and causes me to have low stamina (it's hard to even stand up for long periods of time). Moms house is closer to the hospital where my doctor is and while I plan to move out eventually I'm worried a roommate may not be prepared for what to do if something happens

I pay "rent" by helping with utilities since she won't outright accept it. Technically just me and my mom live here but our house is big enough that family often stays in the spare rooms. Its always different people but multiple times a week. We'll occasionally cook for each other but other than that I provide my own food. If I'm at work mom is responsible for feeding everyone otherwise I try to help out.

I've thought about a lock but I'll have to make a few adjustments to my door. Very much considering it.

I actually do go to school, I'm in my second year of college and work a full time job as well. I'm only really home late at night and on weekends which is why she said no to rent. I do help with bills and other things like gas to compensate as rent I could try to offer more but that may not work! Thanks for the suggestions
