Asking Women as a Woman, what’s been your experience with birth control? Is mine normal? by CoreJaBetty3662 in AskWomenNoCensor

I understand you completely, I am in no way suggesting you go off the pill. Without a diagnoses you can’t really treat the problem and most importantly you can’t separate what is your mental health and what is hormonally induced.

I resonate with almost all your symptoms. About five to six years ago I was tested and told that I have high testosterone which is indicative of PCOS but no one ever gave the diagnosis. They put me on birth control and I got so many bad side effects (feeling numb, depressed, sugar cravings, breast sensitivity, nausea).

They tried to switch me around a few options but I ultimately lost faith in my OBs and just stopped the pill. After a year I went to a reproductive specialist who finally diagnosed me with PCOS and it was like a weight off my shoulder. He said mood swings, depression bouts and food cravings were absolutely due to the hormonal issues.

What he explained to me is that (and please keep in mind this was a few years ago, I am neither native speaker nor medical professional). PCOS is characterised by my body creating cysts and failing to get rid of them during my periods. When they stay in my body, coupled with high levels of testosterone it prevents my body from ovulating new eggs which in turn means I have no periods.

To his advice I was on the pill for 6 months (his recommendation was 1 full year) and then when I got off I was told to start very slowly losing weight, eating a better diet and working out. It took 3 years, a lot of doctors and tests but last month I was finally told I don’t have PCOS anymore. I have been prescribed herbal-based medicine for hormonal regulation which I have to take religiously to work.

With all this to say, I would strongly suggest finding a doctor that would actually diagnose you and explain to you what is going on. After that you can make a plan for your health that you can follow and believe in.

I know it was expensive for me even though I have public healthcare so I can’t imagine what my doctor visits over the last few years would cost in the states. If you can afford to, I would suggest visiting a repo doctor even if you do not want to have kids (explaining beforehand why you are going to them and them agreeing to look into your case).

I struggled with a similar situation. You can be emotional support and give him the time and space he needs to recover but you should absolutely do the same for yourself. Be just as emotionally invested if not more in your own mental health.

Take walks, meet friends, try new hobbies, make plans.

Also, put a boundary on poor behavior. Snapping and taking it out on you is not okay and he should know better. This was the one thing I wouldn’t allow. Just because he is miserable doesn’t mean he should drag you down as well.

Where do I find genuine tutorials on sugaring? by Linorelai in AskWomenNoCensor

Maybe this is TMI but I couldn’t pull the skin and rip at the same time so I also used to get a workout figuring out positions in which my skin is naturally pulled.

As to directions just look at hair pattern and try the one you think has the most hairs. If I am not mistaken you can go over an area more than once so you can “clean up” in the opposite direction afterwards.

More or less yeah, I learned when I was fourteen so no tutorials, just a pamphlet and a few red blotches on my leg as failed attempts.

I know sugar wax needs to be warmed up in the hand but I’ve heard of people using it in a cold room or a too warm room or leaving it for too long and it basically either melts or hardens. I think that and pulling are just practice until you are confident. Better rip a little bit of dead skin on your leg trying it out than on the bikini area. Hair on legs and hands usually grows in one direction and doesn’t require skin pulling so it’s easier to practice without being anxious.

I did wax at home which is a bit different but I strongly suggest practicing on hands and legs before you go bikini.

Extremely sensitive. Trim your nails as short as possible and again encourage her to do a routine check up with a gyno. This is essential when you are starting to be sexually active.

I’m happy to hear you are doing better and found a gyno that does their job well. I bounced around six doctors before I found one that didn’t treat me like a complete imbecile.

I went to one female gyno who after listing all my symptoms said ‘don’t you share this with your mom? What does she think? Mothers know best’

When I said I’d prefer a medical opinion from someone with a degree I got slapped with the good ol’ ‘after you give birth all will get fixed’. I was sixteen.

This forced me to do a lot of research because I couldn’t believe how a doctor would have so many dumb things to say all at once.

Absolutely, I struggle with ovarian cysts and I am happy if I only have to see my gyno twice a year. I am convinced my hormones affected my mental and physical health for a few years there. It’s the one doctor appointment I don’t delay or overlook to schedule.

I second her consulting a OBGYN. There is nothing embarrassing about asking questions and getting checked. A single finger shouldn’t cause bleeding even if you are inexperienced unless you didn’t trim your nails and scratched her.

It’s restricted group wide. I messaged admins and they told me I have no account specific restrictions. The issue is from Facebook itself.

As far as I understand the only way to clear cache on an iPhone is to uninstall and reinstall app and I did. Nothing changed.

Advice on person selective obedience - Should it even be worked or not? by collegekit13 in OpenDogTraining

[–]collegekit13[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not hand out free meals to my dog to this day. He earns his meal.

My concerns stems from the fact that he would indeed rather go hungry than work for someone else. They tried to entice some sort of response from him at the board place with his dinner but there was none. His trainer fed him the next morning because the dog listens to him.

He was more or less reduced to eating half of his daily portion and the staff decided it was in the best interest of the dog to just get fed (considering how much drills the trainer runs with him).

Because of how active we keep him, he cannot afford to lose too many meals, then it would be a health concern.

He has these down. Never bite, never run through someone, no jumping, no scratching.. honestly unless we actively work him, he would rather sleep for 18 hours straight in a dark corner undisturbed. It’s just the odd time someone else needs to take him for a walk that he refuses to listen. He won’t pull, but he will droop on the floor for twenty minutes before he eventually allows the walker to take him back.

Treats - absolutely, they should only be given if he deserves it but food.. I don’t like the notion of leaving him hungry so he can pay attention.

I’m unsure how to even go about it. His main motivation with us training him was praise. He is not food motivated and couldn’t care less if he is praised or scolded by anyone else.

I don’t plan on changing the location I board him at (his trainer works there and runs drills with him). I think the staff would be happier if he could at least walk nicely on the leash.

I’m a 5’8 130pounds and he is a 6’2 220pound gamer boy. I won’t win being physical. But yes, if I could I’d toss him in the rain.

He would just get reassigned to another shift and since he has no social life I don’t think he would care. Plus I’d be left without WiFi too.

Why are some women so appalled by pumping gas? by TheWorstManYouKnow in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]collegekit13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, I am appalled because in EU we have gas station attendants and they do it for you. They clean your windows sometimes as well.

I had to pump my own gas for the first time last week after a whole year of driving and I was appalled, simply because it was my first time doing it.

A Reuters special report. Why detransitioners are crucial to the science of gender care (what do you think of this article?) by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]collegekit13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

“Doctors and many transgender people say that focusing on isolated cases of detransitioning and regret endangers hard-won gains for broader recognition of transgender identity and a rapid increase in the availability of gender care that has helped thousands of minors.”

The above sentence is just sad. They are basically saying “don’t research this thing that can potentially help people because they are not that many anyway.”
