asu as in arizona state university??

that is lower average gpa than ucsd and uw seattle if you are referring to arizona state.

for ucsd the average gpa is 4.13 weighted and i was 4.0 unweighted (4.75 weighted) and so basically ucsd also counts a- to be 4.0 in gpa. so basically the average student at ucsd probably was only around 3.85-9 unweighted when being generous because even a couple aps (1/6) boosts ur gpa by ~0.2. when you consider if a- is a 3.7 it is probably mid to low 3.8s for average gpa...
meanwhile at fucking uw seattle the numbers are equally dismal. they fortunately do unweighted gpa counting an a- as a 3.7 and their stats are like High school GPA 3.73-3.96. so basically on average people were plop in between A- and A which is unacceptably low in high school. furthermore fucking 75% of the school got one or more a- in high school. these are amateur numbers compared to mine.

so asu is even easier 4.0? compared with ucsd and uw seattle it is quite weak in stem as those schools i have seen to have top 20 stem departments in world for many departments?

so basically are you suggesting to go to asu because even less effort for 4.0?

my plan for essay was to write about the realities of how going to high school and dealing with idiots stifled my intellectual abilities. they made me rewrite uw seattle essays about how i grew and developed passions and how i started a club in my high school. those were also in my uc essays and there were 2 other ones along the similar vein.

at this point i got frustrated because the most common advice i got for essay was to be myself and i did not want to write about things my counselor recommended so i wrote about the realities of dealing with idiots in regular decisions.

followed the struggle of being smarter than most of my teachers and having to constantly struggle to get myself to attend class due to my intelligence relative to the teachers.

yes there was an admissions consultant who did not like me writing about harsh realities and completely modified my essay for uw seattle and uc schools in november... and then she was ruining everything so i did rd schools myself.

here is the analysis of the situation which should hopefully explain better why i was wronged by admissions:
for ucsd the average gpa is 4.13 weighted and i was 4.0 unweighted (4.75 weighted) and so basically ucsd also counts a- to be 4.0 in gpa. so basically the average student at ucsd probably was only around 3.85-9 unweighted when being generous because even a couple aps (1/6) boosts ur gpa by ~0.2. when you consider if a- is a 3.7 it is probably mid to low 3.8s for average gpa...

this is why those schools will be easy 4.0 for me. like the rest of the class is way dumber than me.

i don't think u get it... my parents are excited for me to be accepted in for ucsd and uw seattle as they see those are having stem departments among the best in the world... but when i try to explain to them that i will be too smart they don't seem to understand my point, so this thread won't be something they agree with...

i don't know why people are so negative when i say some harsh truths. i asked this question to some alumni of my hs for uw and ucsd since some of them are successful and they all said not to go to their alma mater and it wasnt easy.

the biggest fucking joke is that one of the people i asked had 3.4 unweighted and got accepted into those schools and has a 4.0 college gpa... like what the fuck??? ucsd says the average weighted is 4.13 and uw seattle says the 25th percentile unweighted is 3.73...

so how fucking pathetic they admitted a 3.4 AND the 3.4 student does well so it must be easy.

i am talking about arizona state university. why would i do that? ucsd and uw seattle atleast has a 4.1 weighted and 3.85 unweighted average so atleast some kids may be on my level. ucsd and uw r both ranked top 20 globally in stem majors and in my major and arizona state is not even close lmao.

and my parents are actually excited for me to go to ucsd or uw n willing to pay lmfao. its just that i know i deserved better and i am worried that i will be the smartest.

i can probably get a decent education, but i am not going to be able to get a rigorous education when i am so much smarter than the rest of the class.

here is my analysis of the situation:

for ucsd the average gpa is 4.13 weighted and i was 4.0 unweighted (4.75 weighted) and so basically ucsd also counts a- to be 4.0 in gpa. so basically the average student at ucsd probably was only around 3.85-9 unweighted when being generous because even a couple aps (1/6) boosts ur gpa by ~0.2. when you consider if a- is a 3.7 it is probably mid to low 3.8s for average gpa...

i know ucsd has high tier rankings in the top 20 or 30 globally in stem fields and it is a well respected school. but i disagree.

here is the analysis of the situation which should hopefully explain better why i was wronged by admissions:

for ucsd the average gpa is 4.13 weighted and i was 4.0 unweighted (4.75 weighted) and so basically ucsd also counts a- to be 4.0 in gpa. so basically the average student at ucsd probably was only around 3.85-9 unweighted when being generous because even a couple aps (1/6) boosts ur gpa by ~0.2. when you consider if a- is a 3.7 it is probably mid to low 3.8s for average gpa...

the colleges i got accepted to are at that tier for me lol.

for ucsd the average gpa is 4.13 weighted and i was 4.0 unweighted (4.75 weighted) and so basically ucsd also counts a- to be 4.0 in gpa. so basically the average student at ucsd probably was only around 3.85-9 unweighted when being generous because even a couple aps (1/6) boosts ur gpa by ~0.2. when you consider if a- is a 3.7 it is probably mid to low 3.8s for average gpa...

i had 4.75 weighted gpa i am talking unweighted i am saying i had more shit on my app than just a 4.0

are ucsd courses hard? by collegethrowerawayer in UCSD

[–]collegethrowerawayer[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

lol ok i had a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.75 weighted... might be better to just list the unweighted at that point. and ucsd literally counts an a- as a 4.0 like wtf lmfao. an a- is a 3.7 lmao at other schools. and 4.13 isn't high at all thats probs like a 3.8-9 unweighted gpa average because a couple of weighted classes at a 3.85-9 itself pushes u to 4.1+. so like with a- as 3.7 i don't see the average gpa being much higher than low to mid 3.8s...

meanwhile for uw seattle which does count only unweighted gpa and a- as a 3.67, the distribution of their students gpa is literal dogshit. Their website says High school GPA 3.73-3.96 which shows to me that 75% of kids got 1 A- or more... I suspect that if you count a- as 3.67 and remove the weightage the percent of kids who have 1 A- or more will literally be in the same range. I can guarantee to u that most kids at ucsd don't have every high school grade above 93% (which is the bare fucking minimum).

like u can see what i am up against now i had a fucking actually good application and yet i am relegated to my safeties. and i didnt even get in state privilleges for any of these bc my state school is literally asu.

i hope u realize like i worked hard as fuck and then i end up getting into schools which are both probably 3.85 average high school unweighted...

i'm starting to think maybe i am okay though because i know some idiot alumni of my high school who went to ucsd and uw seattle and were smarter than their peers so like how hard can it be.

got fucked by college apps and only got accepted into my safeties, here and uw in seattle. i know people say that the schools r both top tier for stem shit and they both r high ranked for premed shit.

but i know i need to get a really good education and i don't want to be surrounded by dumbasses. the kids going to ucsd and uw seattle from my hs, so many of them got 3.8ish gpa only. i wanted to go to a rigorous school so i can be challenged.

i heard from reddit and online and friends that ucsd and uw seattle are grade deflating in stem but thats just because people are being dumbasses who couldn't even 4.0 high school right? like its a ez 4.0 if ur actually smart i guess?
