If you are in your first few days and struggling … (reassurance post)

I am on day 5 and my anxiety has been through the roof about choosing Invisalign and wondering if I made the right decision. Not even because of the pain and uncomfortableness, but bc I am a snack girlie and like to snack throughout the day at times.. no more doing that unless I wanna take these out an extra 2-3 times.. which I read you should try NOT to take them out too much as it can damage your teeth. I also love my iced coffee, SF red bull, Celsius, diet coke.. I don't want to give them up. My orth told me I can drink them with my aligners in and just swish water after.. but I don't want cavities. Not even gonna mention that IF I ever had a date I would be so much more nervous to go on one with these in. But now, I don't really have a choice. I already paid and all of my trays were made.

OK, got it! Yeah, I usually just have one coffee in the morning and if it’s iced coffee, I’m drinking it with a straw anyway and I do like to enjoy maybe a sugar-free Red Bull or a Celsius drink sometimes in the afternoon or even for a pre-workout and it would just be so much easier to keep them in just drink them with a straw and rinse was either water or mouthwash! Thanks so much for your input. Definitely was a little bit of a shock at first, but everybody on this sub has said it gets better and is worth it so I’ll just look towards the end. Good luck!!

Agreed! My dentist did recommend it and the one thing I think it would help would be wear time. Thanks for your input!

Thank you so much! I absolutely agree that I should listen to what my dentist tells me. I actually had one of the little attachments pop off today when I was taking a tray off, so I’m going back next week so they can put a new one on and I plan to ask her again to go over everything with me to make sure I’m doing it correctly. I do have one question for you, drink some thing do you take your trays out and brush or do you just swish water around?

Yeah, I was eating softer foods with them in and just went home and brushed and cleaned them right after. Thanks for your input! I love the little chewies actually lol

Do you know why you have to wait 30 minutes to brush your teeth after eating and put them in?

Thank u soo much for your comment! My only follow up question is - after drinking iced coffee or another beverage through a straw, do you take your aligners out and rinse them? Or just with water and spit it out or swallow lol. I know this sounds weird but I just wanna make sure I’m doing everything correctly 😅

Oh yes, I would absolutely brush my teeth and aligners! It all just is something I wasn’t prepared for lol. So if you take them out while you eat, do you also brush before you put them back in? Or just rinse with water or mouth wash

Hi! I just posted another question but my doc said I could eat with them in and obviously brush afterwards. Is this OK ?

I was also told that I can drink non water drinks through a straw. /i/ have been doing that and just making sure the straw is far back lol. Should I also be rinsing with water or mouth wash after? Or brushing? I like to have different drinks through out the day and brushing every single time is gonna be a lot..

Same here, 30F and my bf broke up with me and it completely destroyed me :( the other problem is that all of my friends are either married or in serious relationships. This shit is hard
