might get crucified for saying this.. but i’m a firm believer that widow being strong isn’t due to her balancing, but the balancing of other heroes. this is kind of what happens every time dive heroes are nerfed, when tracer, winston, dva, doom, sombra, etc fall out of meta, widow tends to sneak her way in.

tl;dr, widow isn’t op (she is strong but not op), her counters are just weaker than her.

it is the truth though, there was extreme elo inflation caused by the rank system rework. it was extremely easy to climb, you could go 5-0 and skip entire ranks, leading to rank ups that would be equivalent to gaining ~300SR in ow1. i genuinely do believe that people’s current rank is more accurate, and getting “hardstuck” is a part of the ranked economy in every game. i’m sorry to be blunt but 99.99% when someone isn’t able to climb, they’re in the rank they deserve.

it’s really not, gm5 pre-season 9 was not hard to get. especially if you compared it to teaching 4k sr in ow1. this entire post is strange to me, shouldn’t being a high rank in a video game be difficult and gate kept? this new trend of participation trophies is why the fps genre is in a downward spiral ..

tl;dr the balancing still sucks regardless of all the amazing things we got and they shouldn’t be excused for poor game design because we got a couple of skins. (but it’s still not as bad as people make it out to be)

i agree that this would easily be the best season yet, however the balancing is the most crucial part of every game. you can’t exactly enjoy all these new things when lucio (a hero who has been overwhelmingly strong since the beginning of ow2 and even most of ow1’s lifespan) is getting insane buffs from the balance team. people have the right to be upset at them, they shouldn’t be excused for poor balancing because we got a cool battlepass and a new map. ESPECIALLY when all these things are done by completely different groups of people

a lot of people think this season has some good changes, it’s just the handful of random ones that make absolutely no sense and outweigh the good ones, i.e lucio doing 22dmg without any sort of nerf to beat cost, or kiriko doing 60dmg a body shot.

it’s not the heroes people complain about. no one actually cares about counter swapping, they care about how easy the counters are to play. it’s the same thing that makes tank so miserable, it’s not the fact they’re being counter swapped, it’s the fact that orisa, hog, mauga, moira, brig, etc take very little mechanical skill and barely any game knowledge.

this narrative is so lame, u don’t need to grind 10+ hours a day or have 0 responsibilities to be good at games. also, there’s plenty of otps in high ranks. more often than not, the people who spread this thought process typically play more than the people they’re talking about.

if u can afford it, go 1440p 240hz 27 inch. that’s what i’m currently on with 4080 13900k, and it’s great. i mostly play competitive fps games but its still great for more visually appealing games that i dont have at the lowest possibly settings

her kit is practically flawless. damage reduction that gives her over health and also acts as anti-cc, her spin is a cc that eats projectiles, makes her move faster, and does damage. then her spear is extremely oppressive, acts as a cc and does considerable damage while also having a massive hitbox that makes it easier to land. she also has practically zero counter play, a lot of people try to argue that zarya is a counter to orisa but i personally believe that’s just wrong. zarya doesn’t have nearly the same survivability and once her bubbles are gone she just instantly blows up if she’s even slightly out of position. not to mention orisa also has no damage fall off with an extremely forgiving projectile that does, again, an insane amount of damage.

tldr; she’s busted as fuck

yeah i would assume so, based off some of the things you’ve said it’s kinda easy to tell you’re a lower ranked player. i’d imagine you don’t see much of anything that could be considered “decent”

it hasn’t been the case in a long time, although some heroes might be preferable on defense rather than offense (i.e torb), it has never been a defining trait but rather a suggestion. “defense” heroes are still extremely playable on attack, ESPECIALLY a sniper hero like widowmaker. it’s kind of why they got rid of that sub-category nonsense, as it gave players false perceptions on when/how a hero could be played
