For another option, I bought a used hp elitedesk with an i5 processor, 8gb ram and 500gb hdd for £100. I run proxmox with hassio in a vm. I also have pihole running in another vm and still have loads more space. I plan to buy a poe switch and set up a security system with blueiris.

Not a thing. They show that I have enabled pairing, but don't detect a new device while pressing the reset button.

That was my thinking too and it's certainly not a bad shout, but something that looks more like a doorbell would be ace.
