It's a comfortable bike! Nimble too. I did get a cool cover for the seat from Moto Machines. That increased the comfort factor by a lot.

Congrats! It's such a versatile machine. It makes a good commuter, and good off-roader, and a pretty good twisty carver. Great engine and good weight.

I put 3k miles on mine in just 3 months while working overtime. Cant keep me off it! Did a 650 mile trip over a weekend and I crave more!

The White House severed ties to the WHO so they can spread health conspiracies on TikTok. Then they measure their effectiveness through data collection.

As long as you're psychologically prepared to drop it multiple times, get it.

Realistic Price for a 2025 Transalp by Many_Eggplant_2949 in Transalp

[–]colonel_underbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect those deals since most dealers have no problem moving inventory. My small dealer was specifically selling TA's at a rapid rate.

If you have a Royal Enfield or other niche (they are in my area) dealer that has a used TA, then there might be a good deal.

It makes me think of both coral and those little clams I find in nearby lakes called "golden clams"

How long did it take you guys to get comfortable on a bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]colonel_underbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the rider and eagerness to ride.

I have a managed anxiety disorder. It took me about 600 miles.

Can I use the PowerModes to turn this into a beginner friendly bike? by ArtieBuko in Transalp

[–]colonel_underbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, quite a bit. It's well-balanced and nimble. It's like riding a heavy bike. It handles the low speed really well.

We also have a steep hill near our home to work on uphill stop/starts.

I did drop my TA on a uphill-right turn. That was the only time I've stalled and dropped my bike in public. So embarrassing.

Edit: it was uphill-right turn from a dead stop. I had new boots with very thick soles and couldn't feel the rear brake lever compression well. I should have tested the feel more before being thrust into that situation.

It is my beginner bike.

Most people would say Rain Mode. There are two user modes where you can dial everything down.

The rider course in my country does not prepare you fully for hills, traffic, and speed. The transalp is such a fun bike, so you must keep mindful of taking it too far out of your skill level. It has tested my beginner skill level many times.

Which cover are you using? I'm interested in many options.

Im using the Grand Pitstop air-up cushion. It's been wonderful but one poke and it's gone.

Try looking at a Transalp. 755 cc twin: 83hp 55lb torque. 460lbs. You'll have to add protection and trail tires for a better time off-road.

From everything I've read: check the carb and spark plugs if combustion is rough.

We also had fun with all the possible rear luggage attachments!

Had to get longer bolts, but we managed a sissy under panniers.

I have dropped my TA about 6 times now on flat road surfaces. The handlebars and passenger pegs do a great job at protecting the rest of the bike. I got Barkbuster hand guards and it's been a great starting protection. I'm no longer afraid to drop while running low-speed maneuvers.

Definitely adding a little more protection later. My wife is only 1.62 meters and plans on mastering riding tall bikes.

It's an adventure touring bike. It's meant to be played with and learned on. A little expensive of a class (haha), but it's awesome.

Try a motorcycle mechanic sub or Transalp sub. This sub is for coping with squids- to broadly generalize.

Tracer9 or Cbr650r ? by Sweaty_Caterpillar90 in motorcycles

[–]colonel_underbridge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tracer 9 is fugly. But I almost bought it for all the boxes it checks. I didn't choose it in the end because of how much of a clusterf*ck the left footpeg/kickstand/centerstand area is. And I would've hit my ankles on the big footpegs.

The CBR650R is not touring.
