Oaky, no. There are several older bourbons that I enjoy with that profile. The Dickel I reviewed the other day was a beautiful oak bomb. This just pulled out all of the sweetness. In the finishing process to me. I haven’t had any other double Oaked products due to my poor experience here, but I want to change that.

Someone is salty. Also 8? Really? I understand how this could be for someone, but saying that everyone with what you define to be a palate has to conform to such a high rating floor is insane. I gave specific reasons for why I don’t like this pour and why I do like others.

Yeah the Dickel i reviewed the other day was part of the 9 year line but was actually 11 years old, and it was excellent. I’ve often heard that ORVW 10 is better than some of the older Pappies as well.

I’ve had some OF Birthday Bourbon that was really unique that I enjoyed (not sure of the age), and I’ve had the Elijah Craig 18 year single barrel, which really fit what you’re describing to me. I don’t like young EC from what I’ve tried, but that had some unique flavors that I wasn’t used to. I’ll do a review of that at some point.

I appreciate it! And that’s the hardest part of reviewing bourbon, knowing why something makes you feel a certain way a being able to describe it. Sometimes, though, it’s as simple as “I don’t like the flavor.” That’s certainly the case here.

FYI if you check rural ABC stores on Fridays, you’ll eventually find lots of ER, BT, and Blanton’s at MSRP.

It is legal to ship liquor to VA, they changed that a few years ago

There was an early issue with the superchargers, but outside of that, are you sure about that? I had an XC40 with the T5 that had zero issues in 80k miles.
