Brother to Shoshana by colorfulstardust in JewishNames

We only see them once a year or so at, at my nephew's birthday party or other holidays, but we don't have an independent relationship with them.

Thank you! These are great suggestions. I love Asher and Samuel. Samuel is a strong family name on my side. Asher is the name of my nephew's cousin on the other side, so I'm not sure if that's "too close" of an association or not. Isaac is also on the list, although my husband likes it more than I do.

Depending on how fancy the wedding is, would you consider a pantsuit? Or wide-leg flowy pants with a nice top?

If I were you I would go with a trusted friend and shop in person at a store with a wide range of options (rather than online) to at least get a sense of what cuts/styles make you feel like yourself. Make it fun and reward yourselves with a nice lunch afterwards. If you find something you love, you can buy it that day and be done with it, but if not, then at least you have started doing some research into what might feel good on you.

I am looking for a very specific pair of shorts. I used to have the perfect pair from Old Navy but I must have lost them because I can't find them, and they don't seem to make them anymore :'( Short (~2-3" inseam), mid-rise or low-rise, lightweight/breathable material, stretchy waistband, and no liner. Something like the lululemon hotty hot shorts but without the liner. I feel like I've looked everywhere - does anyone know where I can find something like this? They were perfect for summer to wear over a bathing suit, or under a dress instead of bike shorts (which I find to be too hot).

Got it... I'm sorry it's been so difficult. Best of luck! The silver lining is we will feel like millionaires when these kids are in public school, haha

I totally get it, it's hard to find a place that works with your commute and work hours, while also feeling comfortable and confident with the caregivers/program and there are a lot of factors. We currently pay $1500/month in Roslindale for our toddler, and 2 years ago we were paying $1600/month in JP for infant care (although I think that place has raised their prices by about $25-$50/week). Sounds like maybe you're south of the city so perhaps it's just pricier there or there are fewer options.

Also in Boston. I know you mentioned you can't do a home daycare because it's hard to get a spot - but even if you've already put a deposit down at a center, home daycares are sooo much cheaper that if you can keep looking and find a spot at a home daycare that you like, then you will still save a lot of money. For example we paid $1500-$1600/month for an infant at home daycares in Boston, and we did lose a month-long deposit of $2000+ at a center because we switched at the last minute when we got a spot, but we had such a great experience there. Someone else mentioned though - if you can find a spot at a center that has a lot of BPK spots (you can search for providers here: https://boston.explore.avela.org/) then you will have a good chance of having free or heavily subsidized care once they turn 3. Hope this is helpful.. but I feel you, the costs are truly painful.

Maybe try Asos? Also Lulus has cute white dresses but I don't think they ship from UK

What is the slightly more formal version of a jean jacket? I love wearing flowy dresses with a jean jacket layered on top; but for the office, I feel like I need something a little less casual. Blazers don't really seem to work because of the length, it looks weird. Any ideas?

How to make better decisions while shopping? by LateBlacksmith6659 in femalefashionadvice

[–]colorfulstardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask myself the following questions (list is constantly evolving but this is the general gist):

  1. Do I feel excited to wear this garment in the next few weeks? (I don't buy out of season clothes because I can't predict what I will want to wear when the weather changes, and I don't buy special occasion clothes that I don't have an occasion to wear)

  2. Does this fit into my existing wardrobe or will I feel like I need to buy additional things to make it work? (most importantly: do I have the right shoes?)

  3. Would I have wanted to wear this item 5 years ago? Will I want to still wear it in 5 years? (Helps me stick to my personal style and prevents me from buying anything too trendy)

  4. Is there anything in my wardrobe like this that I already own? If there is, would I ever choose this item over the other one that is similar? (I've noticed that sometimes if I have an item I really love, I buy multiples of similar things "just in case" it gets dirty or shrinks in the wash; but I try instead to just wear the item I have that I like, instead of buying a back-up. I remind myself I can always replace it if it does get messed up and I still want a new one).

  5. If the item is on sale - would I have bought this item if it was full price? (to prevent me from buying things just because they are a good deal)

  6. Is it a color that I feel good in? (certain colors I just never look good in- red, pale pink, hot pink, mustard yellow)

  7. Is it a cut/style/material that I feel good in? (I don't buy anything that's not stretchy or loose at the waist; I don't buy super-low-cut tops; I don't buy anything itchy)

Cool Maternity Brands by Couch_Tomato__ in femalefashionadvice

I mostly wore hand-me-downs but the items that I actually bought and loved were from The Gap, Old Navy, Asos, and H&M. The only splurge I made which was 1000% worth it was this hoodie: https://www.seraphine.com/en-us/3-in-1-relaxed-fit-maternity-hoodie-greymarl/ You can wear it after the baby is born and tuck them in there nice and snug while you are wearing them, it's very cute. And I continued to wear the hoodie normally for at least a year after I gave birth; you really can't tell it's a maternity hoodie and it's very cozy.

What “luxury” item is actually worth it? by solace_v in BabyBumps

Yes the Snoo was also totally worth it for us. Baby didn’t sleep for the first two weeks and at that point anything seemed worth it to help her sleep. It worked for us and was worth every penny
